i love how it goes.   i begin a Cloth and am all happy and then,  think…oh, eeee this isn't going to be able to happen and i go through  as many of those 13 bags of scraps/fragments as it takes and suddenly….YES…it's going to work…and here we are again,  this time with a piece of cloth that i have had forever,  from Oregon i know,  but not how….but do know from Oregon,  when i went there imagining i would make a new life.   and it turned out i DID,  but it just  wasn't in Oregon.   and was a different life than i had imagined.

Life is so amazing when someone doesn't kill you first,  before you've had a chance to find out how it can happen.

how many times I’ve wondered out loud “never did I ever think I’d end up in Texas” … and who knows what will happen next?
the Uvalde massacre has penetrated the consciousness of our almost-eight year old and two almost-ten year old grandsons … their moms are distraught … wondering how to protect them physically and psychologically … both seemingly impossible

It isn’t just Texas Liz: Yesterday as my heart was breaking over Uvalde, word came that two high school boys, one in Albuquerque, the other in Rio Rancho, the city I live in, had brought guns in their backpacks to school. The difference here is that other students knew about this and informed the school authorities who took the guns…no threats were implied but how could there not be when you take a gun to school? The student in Rio Rancho is being charged…
How can this not affect all of our grandchildren and children and their parents? I worry about my twin grandchildren in California, just turned 13, a tumultuous rite of passage all on its own but now they face so many potential unforeseeable situations…

Cloth is amazing and your piece does lead to reflections on life… and death. How things (patches, lives) come together, how they are cut short. Wondering about making cloths that reflect tragedy, but retain a beauty. Is it even possible?

    Weapons, power, money
    It’s enough
But bigger powers pour this out over us
Stay tuned on your cloth, for our eyes only
