the light was….odd.    it seemed Ordinary,   nothing i could put a finger on,  but it was different.   colors,  different,  even the shadow of the needle different.    Sometimes i would think i should  pin to the Wall Cloth…see what was happening,  but i kept NOT doing that…just going….just by touch,   little by little.   Just what was the immediate Next.     a LOT of stitches.

a very FULL day of so much      uhhhhh,     vague awareness of so many things.   rising from some very specific things.  These are interesting days.

giving water at B Garden….these was a lizard,  under the Daisy Bush….i could have not seen it at all except for yesterday,  twice,  there being the dark form ….so FAST….that i think is the skink?    but remembering and wanting to be ready tonight,  in case.  But this One.   i have never seen this before.   Was taking one step at a time.   Slow.  walking    walking    through the run off of the hose,  through the wet earth,  sometimes stopping and stretching head up,   looking up,   then taking another step.    I held my breath.

I find it strangely difficult to stitch in early evening light … how the shadows fall, thwarting my attempts to get the needle’s point to go where I intend … so I stop, taking it as a sign that the day’s stitching is done
and the lizards … how different their ways of going are … the anoles being my favorites, as they are trusting and will look back calmly, not moving
I thought of you as I stitched yesterday … thought of you and Marti … of Georgia and New Mexico’s high desert land

this is too perfect … right after pressing send, a bit of movement caught my eye … a little green anole on the fence right outside my window, blowing a perfect pink bubble in his neck while doing that funny push-up kinda thing that they do

(((Grace))) like braille for the soul, I am slowly learning to stitch all over again with my eyes getting so dim my fingertips are teaching me so much about the hand of the cloth and where the needle goes next…

You’re working on a truly personal piece. Awareness stitching at a thoughtful pace, maybe? I don’t know, but I surely appreciate it. It’s beautiful.
