in the middle of the night i knew i wanted to make a  "Good Enough" blanket.  I want to copy Deb G.     I went back on Bee Creative  and tried to find her first square but was using too much battery in my wandering  (reading for instance other things, like the reminder that English Muffins make good garlic bread)  so i asked.   Her first square was August 9,  2020.  She linked me.

Before i got the link i  YouTubed  log cabin quilt for beginners and watched a little of a few,  just to get the idea,   and started sweating even more than the day gave,   ee,  all the measuring……all the going in a direction….measuring……more…..strips cut ahead of time    so i got a piece of paper and tried to see how it might actually be.    Surprised even myself at how dyslexic i am.  It's Rocket Science.

but she sent the link and i knew i wanted to try it.   I know i want to try it.

i will try.

and

here are some Beauty FULL numbers:     92   92   92   86   79   83    the forecast.

I find I can piece-as-you go with log cabin. Strips can be cut after they’re attached too. Glad it’s cooling down. Been watching the temps in and around LA because of my brother and son— gawd it’s been hot. Like it was here in July.

you can tear strips of cloth as you need them, width doesn’t matter unless you want everything to be “perfectly the same” … lay a strip down next to the edge you want to attach it to and cut to length … then stitch the edges together … repeat (a lot) …
I love that Deb uses such narrow strips … I’m less patient and tend to make my strips wider

Are you cooler today? We are here, but still muggy from the rain, yes Rain of last night.
I made a log cabin quilt for big grandson, Trey, with the help of my friend who can make sense of these things. Now I think, don’t over think it…do like Dee, Liz and Deb have said…no need for perfection is my thought.
    Be well. xo

Not pre measuring everything makes it less rocket science. It’s kind of a square spiral. I sent an email with diagrams that might help.
As if I didn’t already have enough UFOs, not I want to play with log cabin. 🙃

rain won’t come here till maybe November???? We have a
Long Wait for rain. and then it COMES and there is nothing BUT rain…so
i love, so much, these days, tho they are so Hard for other living things
    and i think of that.
I wait to see your Cloth
yes….batteries for Electricity. Little ones…that hook to USB of the phone, the little FAN.
otherwise…there is none. Well that’s not true. There are the Marine Batteries out there, that DO turn on the hot water heater and in the Rain Season, the Heater in this Tin House. They also would keep the small refrigerater going if it worked. Which it doesn’t. Batteries. I live a Battery life.
If Jenny can, there will be hook up through PGandE the Electric People. There will be electricity down there, at campsite A. Alyssia wants to put some kind of “shed” there that could hold many things, usefull to the Whole of the Hill. It’s so complex. i almost dont want it.

but its as close as it comes…
i look again at the Gee’s Bend Quilts…
don’t be held to making the video…that’s Huge…just that you thought of it. Love and Love and………….

    circle

I made a tiny video, it’s not much work for me to make a little one like I did. I’ve been making videos for work for training purposes and have been getting some practice. 🙂
Yes, it’s the variety of fabric that really makes the blanket work for me, that brings me joy. And that there are stories in most of the scraps; a blanket made for someone else, an article of clothing, a gift…. I am inspired by the Gee’s Bend Quilts too.

Love this comment Grace, I have no precision as well. It’s not in me. I also love all these comments, coming together to help realize a desire…
