continued soaking…turning them under.   and made a note on Calendar to bring forward on New Year's Eve.     Check  Tree Weekly.      I waited longer and most are dry.   In the research,     best when green.    it takes more of dry to produce color.    There should be enough.  There's a lot.   and many softened today.    in the past i've  only dyed old muslin and linen.   The sheet will also make a difference.   its weave and quality of cotton.  Sheet is from Lace Lady.   not new,  but also not worn.   It is taking effort to go slow,  be patient.   Tomorrow i will need to think about how to tie the sheet.   Usually i just   "wad"   the cloth up.  Not so simple with sheet size.   i might tie it with copper wire.

these photos are so alive: they make “dancing music” pop into my head! when I “hear” music, I lose all track of what I need to do ~ just want to dance the “full life tango”. do all the things. make things. These pix are just the Rx I needed!
Copper wire, oh-hah… A few/several years ago, I made some dye bundles with black walnut, and oak leaves. I’m still a novice, but was especially then. I made various bundles varying the “tie ups” per bundle, with baling wire (one aluminum, one steel from goat neighbor), twill tape, ripped strips of cloth, giant rubber bands from grocery goods, DMC crochet thread – size 10 I think, garden twine. I didn’t even think about copper wire! I have to try that.
Patience…very wise advice ~ thank you! sometimes hard to come by and I speak only of my experience.

Big smile that you found black walnut there and am remembering this copper tub from NM. It must be a mast year for black walnut here. I’ve easily gathered 3 5 gallon buckets while leaving the majority for the squirrels. I don’t care so much for the taste of the nuts but this year I broke hulls off and rinsed the nuts for cracking. Such an abundance of riches.

to tie with all manner of things
i’ll go find the wire. it’s from Bill back in New Mex.
we were working on cleaning out his Work Place, Garage,
whatever it was called, and it was there and he said he didn’t want it, did I? OF COURSE and then it just sat
happily. and when loading for the move Here, well….
of course, you take the 20 lb spool of wire. Of course.
it’s out there somewhere in that storage in the Trees, the tree closet. Tomorrow is the day.
    Keep dancing
