not been a great week.   really,  tho ,  little things.  but enough of them.  none the end of the world.  and  this was understood all along,  but they kept coming.    and the truth is….there is a constant mental,  emotional nausea.  I want it to be OVER.   Either way.  How ever it has to  go.  OVER.  so we can put one foot in front of the other.  and the paraphrase from Clarissa Pinkola Estes…        Stand,   and Face What You Know.        Women Who Run With the Wolves.

they came,  Alyssia and Emrie,  to bring Ice for the refrigerater and to take the propane tanks down for Refill.   Emrie now can negotiate her seat belts alone.   i watched through the window as she did that and saw her  with something in the palm of her hand….care  FULL….carefull……and she got out and leaned into me and held it up……Rose   she said.   One word.  Rose.

a petal from one of the roses at her house.

a petal.   but for her,   a whole

rose.   Gift.   in one petal.   Carefully carried all the way here and gifted.

She is so incredibly changed by Kindergarden.   It is beyond stunning to see.   Like that moment when the chrysalis cracks open  and the ButterFly eases out and opens it's WINGS…..to become what it was destined to be

ALL that she is LEARNING ,  just Taking in like nectar….it's stunning to watch…her JOY learning how letters go together to form WORDS   her hunger.  hunger to know.

and she brings this single petal.   says   Rose.   oh….oh…..

in the book,  he says…."chart a path towards a future …. less extractive,  destructive and unequal and more just,  kind and regenerative"

and instead of switching the ice,   what i really wanted to do was this.   I took the Wall Cloths off and hung the Earth Sheet.  Pinned and pinned and pinned the  ….blocks?,  i don't like that word.   ok,  so…components?,  i don't like that either,…so

the things.  i  pinned the Things.   I want to,  need to,   wake up in the morning to them pinned like this.

then i did the Ice.

Children lift us up, if we stay quiet and watch, listen. The are born with such enthusiasm, thirst to know. Was my favorite part of parenting. Watching, teaching my Little Sponges ♡ and now watching them with their own Sponges, incredible.
Silly ice, so ME ME ME! Ha, what, like its afraid its going to melt or something? Pfftt, whatever, lol. Glad to see you kept your eye on The Priorities 😁

I have been calling them squares, but they are more than that too.
This, what you have described about Emrie, is one reason why I continue with children. That they see the wonder… Regenerative is a word I want to spend more time with.

how “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” … they, the blocks/squares/things, are in the process of becoming something more … biding their time as they grow, like caterpillars or pupae …
I wonder, what would Emrie call them?
and now I’m thinking “a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”

The innocence and love setting her on her way to pass on what must have been such a silken, colorful gift in her eyes that just needed to be passed on to you. I can feel that tinge of love that just squeezes your heart. How much she loves you. Makes me smile for you! 🤗

The Things are of the colors representing the elements of Earth. They remind me of finger mazes or square labrynths..just follow with the eyes. Love the Rose element story!

I could never warm up to the word ‘block’ for a quilt either. I guess it means it’s a building block. I wish I could think of a better, more meaningful word, but “A block by any other name…” ? (Liz)
I’m holding on to hope today. Following Marti’s lead, and lighting a candle. I will think of some hope words to say out loud to the universe of intelligence and truth and love- especially LOVE, because, as Mo says, Love Is the Answer. Intelligence and truth–so open to interpretation anymore.
It may be a week of candle-lighting. (Maybe I should have begun in 2016.) We dropped off our ballots at the county seat building. Our votes were received AND counted on October 27th, legally. We’re one of only 6 states that can start counting early.
Happy rainy days, Grace! Eclipses seem to bring clouds this year! Two or three weeks of 70s, now down to 40s?
Unusual. Similar temperatures from Auburn to San Francisco, which is also unusual. Do you have to worry about keeping the goats warm during the really cold times?
Your quilt building block thingies look beautyfull together.
Thank you for the Emrie rose story. It’s delightful! I’m so happy and relieved that school, for her, was not interrupted by the pandemic. What a difficult time that was.
I’m off to find candle #1 for our Happy Election Day wishes.

Ah, Emrie…I love watching their wheels working, watching them think…and then I love the surprise they give us sometimes.

ice is critical. Refrigerator doesn’t work at all. Ice = Food. We’ve got it worked out to a science.
