i wanted to put the word here.   am not prepared to write about it.  just wanted it here.    Looking it up,  as in google,  it says:  connected with God (or the gods) or dedicated to a religious purpose and so deserving veneration.    So…what if your God (or gods)   is just Life.   Life as in what is alive.   All of it.    All that is alive.   Has ever been alive from the "beginning",   continues to be alive,  day unto day.  Ever alive.  Ever changing.  Ever Ever.   Ever Everything.

i told Emrie about the squirrels and she asked to use my Micron Pen,   eeee….i told her how it is with those pens,  showed her the small small thing that is at its tip….how it can be blunted so easily   she listened and just waited,

so ok. i said  …and she drew.

to hear a story or    to have a thought     and      want to make a Picture.    This is sacred.    Emrie's squirrel.

the act of making a picture,  drawing,   is sacred.

This time spent with Emrie, the two of you, is Sacred; what I call the Sacred Ordinary. An ordinary moment, sharing your observation about squirrels with her that becomes sacred when she takes it all in and makes it her story… This so illustrates the wonderful quote from Rachel Carson, biologist, conservationist, ecologist:
“If a child is to keep alive her inborn sense of wonder, she needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with her the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in.”

typepad is being cranky again … I’m sure the picture will show up eventually, but I confess to being impatient to see it
meantime … how hard it is, even knowing it is for the best, to let young folks use the best tools and materials lest they be mishandled … but so often the kid-versions are of such inferior quality that they are harder to use

Emrie, her mind on paper. Can’t see either, but will be joyful when I’m able.

Sacred has some of the best in the thesaurus that could match this drawing moment, cherished, angelic… Imagine the Micron could muster a tiny hand if a light touch but for this memory worth every penny if the pressure was on. When we were in traveling mode I had my eye on Hwy 395 and wanted to make that trip so bad but never got that far. What beautiful land you’re in.

it IS a beautiful land. Being “from” New Mexico (20 some years) i had
    opinions
about California. but also had no idea about the state of California….i thought of cities Palm trees.
And even there, all that i did not know.
but the Sierra Nevada, Northern California, it truly is
magnificant. how it was when They came here, looking
for gold, when it was of its own Self i can only imagine.

I’m learning much of CA and the mining history. I follow Brent Underwood on YouTube Ghost Town Living his journey rebuilding a ghost town. Cerro Gordo. Been two years so far but what really opens me is his love for the entire project. He has such compassion for the past stories and is so honest with his struggles in life. How the land can heal him. And teach him.
