i smiled when i saw what i did.   The whole beginning,  first third  of the book i loved beyond anything i'd hoped.   and now…moving into the the rest…complex beyond my nature and maybe my ability to grasp….   i saw that i had covered it with the beginnings of a spiral that i have thought to keep for my own.    i will continue reading,  but it's going to be slow and a whole different experience.

Atmospheric River.   Downpour of RAIN,   heavy,   Wind    non stop  hours on end.   I  dressed in my rain suit,  boots on,  wool hat.  Ready for any few minutes of let up that might come.   I can hear the Doe Goats  in their Rain House behind this Tin House.   When they're restless in there there is muttering,   jostling.         Nothing.  Silence.   and i wonder if they know it's no use and enter some kind of altered state?    11 am is late,  the latest for morning feed.   ll passed and 12 and around 1pm it lightened and i Went.   Just drizzle and all were Fed.   Down at the Feed Shed by Jack Flash and Nogal,  the little drain canal i dug held.  At first tho i couldn't get the door open,  so much sludge of earth and whatever being pushed down.  I dug it out.    We need a new Plan.    We were and are,   OK.   Tonight  and into tomorrow it will continue.  Moving through on Monday.   I close my eyes and feel the wet seep in,  down,   in to the roots of Everything.

Weather warnings here, rain, snow but for us it will be the winds, tornadoes expected in some parts of New Mexico, snow or rain not as severe at CA.this is all expected to arrive tomorrow and Tues so we will go grocery shopping today. I have my favorite holiday mug, ready to be filled with tea as I sit back and wander through the 2023 Baker’s Creek Heirloom Seeds catalog that arrived yesterday, what a gift to have as we sit out the weather. The front cover is filled with lovely, soft pink stock in assorted weathered containers and makes you long for spring, especially in the face of severe weather!
Now sit back, with you own cup of tea and let me take you on a little trip. Turning the catalog pages is like going on an adventure ride and encountering treasures such as…
    Chinese Multicolor Spinach
    Wasabi Arugula
African Nunum,a basil that is considered good for making pesto
Dragon tongue, an unusual green bean from the Dutch plus another unusual green bean,Japanese winged bean
Durgesh, a big bold cauliflower from India
Japanese black sticky corn- used to make mochi
    Mexican sour gherkin
    Ozark yellow cone flower
    Ping Tung, a Taiwanese eggplant
Walking Stick, a kale that can grow up to 20 ft from Europe
Marvel of Four Seasons, a french butterhead lettuce
Hara Madhu- a sweet teardrop melon from Punjab, India
Rain forest, a sweet spicy pepper from Brazil
Arrahdale, blue gray pumpkin enjoyed especially in Australia
Korean Long, a longish very good slicing tomato.
Ok, now that you are back from traveling the world, you might like to do something closer to home. A date to note: Sept 12-14 The National Heirloom Expo in Ventura, CA; it’s Baker Creek’s 10th anniversary

Wasn’t sure if you were getting rain or snow … glad you’re ok and that it let up enough for you to get done what you needed to get done. Sounds like you have a muddy mess .. it is always something. I admire you for being you .. the you that always gets it done.

I love the term “Atmospheric river,” but not always so much what it means in reality. Heading for another cold snap here. Yes, the book has become more technical, slower reading for me too… What chapter are you on?

Sunny but huge cold wind here on Plamosa Road. Inside hand stitching an Elf costume for my Gnome.. the only holiday decor I have. But that may change on Wed. A planned trip into town to hit the three thrift stores! I am only gleaning the info on this book through Krista Tippet’s notes. I just saw a little video on facebook that showed how to dig up Pepper plants and over winter them like you can with Geraniums. Supposed to be a perennial plant and produce more. Hmmmm.

she sounds urgent…. Can we SEW? the head of her Christmas Elf was falling off. Could we Sew when they bring Ice today?

I’ve found good things in the next two chapters. The difference in examples that he gives from chapter to chapter makes me think about how we are all different in how we process information. There are people who struggle with relationships for example but are at home with the mathematical. What kind of mind does it take to build a rocket that can go to the moon? Not mine…but the mind that can do the science might not be able to be with six or seven one year olds who don’t use language to communicate and understand what they need throughout the day…
