Carefree Way.   it was a little river.

searched Chogyam Trungpa on UTube   found this.    Crazy Wisdom:  The Life and Times of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche   Full Documentary.   In our wandering free association ,  me and Alyssia,   often enough i say things about having come of age in the 60's,  how it was so Beauty Full a time,  so energized by possibility  …Change.   culture,  politics.   the world.   She is very aware and "educated" about my generation…on into how we squandered those days.   and chose instead what has led us to this place we find ourselves today.   She will watch it.   One of the books on her bookshelf in her bedroom,   the part that is my library,  is Shambhala Sacred Path of the Warrior  wherein lies that thing about Basic Goodness.

and the thought…squander.  squandered.   saying…i squandered my life.   But then…did I?   i have    Her.   I have Emrie.   I have this Hill world.

the Owls are back tonight and some other being whose voice i cannot identify,  have never heard before …a kind of a deep sqwak…as loud as the owl….????   And the Tree Frogs.   so many of them.   This night of one day of Sun is so active.  Rain returns tomorrow.

One of the definitions of squander is loss of opportunity:
I sit here with this because no, you did not squander. Each generation builds from the other and so, Alyssia and Emrie will and are, the next caretakers of the Hill. They are because you have shown them the importance of caring for the land, for each other, for others, for all who live with us on this place we call Earth and there is a dignity present.
I recall a line from a poem by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, (was in the video), “self existing dignity never wanes.” We may lament that we did not do enough in our lives to care, to help, to connect, that we stumbled when we should have risen but we all have tried to do our very best and our very best comes from our hearts, minds, and soul. To me, that is how we go, our dignity allowing us to admit when we have fallen short and when what we did, mattered. The next generation will take from that and give it deeper and stronger meaning and so it goes…

oh, how this picture reminded me of the driveway washouts that followed the epic rains in the Hill Country … water is such an amazing force of nature
and squandered … hmmmm … I rather think not … this blog alone has been a worthy creation … a record of life in this new century … a gathering of kindred spirits … a touchstone for the future

I think we all question how well we have used our time and opportunities and most of us are harder on ourselves than we should be. 🙂 Sunshine after lots of rain, such a gift.

We try to do our best every day…that is not squandering. As the late Piri Thomas put it “trying beats a blank.”
You have your family, animals, home and this blog….all are worthy contributions to life.

Grace…from ‘lazy’ to ‘squander’ – I feel like it is a new time of considering. More thoughts than I can pull together right now, but I will say, don’t squander the sunshine opportunity for a little drive to see all of the Green! Down that road you shared here before…it must be beautiful 🙂

it’s self indulgent. What saves it is you, the
All of You that come here and leave word. or, come here and silently witness. The gathering.

Squander. Such a word. We haven’t had the amount of RAIN you are having…..but on the news they said perhaps some of the dry rivers will fill a bit…not all the way- the DRY was too long and intense. Where my son is living west and a bit north of you- puddles in the parking lot…… just that…..but rain every day.
Here in Maine- we wait for the Ocean to Rise (inland five miles) and come for our houses. Wash them away.

I understand the squander thing. The darkness and the rain are killjoys. The wind and some thunderstorms made it all the more frightening. I can only imagine being responsible for the outside-the-house, the goats, water and food, the land. I hope you are warm and mostly dry, and that your batteries are charged. talk soon.
