last week?  or two?  when i brought things up   from the storage tubs at B Garden,  this came.     It's about 3 " tall and at the widest part maybe  l  l/4" wide.   Little.   I grew it and ones like it in New Mex.  Larger ones.   All sizes.   I drew and painted on them.  Sold them at markets and through shops for awhile.  painted with oil paints…drew with colored pencil blended with turpentine.    Was looking at it this morning and thought…shelter.   and then because WIND was crazy OutSide,   thought

shelter from the storm     then  the word thought    ……    come in,  he said.  i'll give you

……    and thought where is that from???????  and then it all came through.        Come in,  she said,  i'll give ya    shelter from the storm     and the harmonica     and i went to UTube   and Dylan sang me.

and it is just such a perfect example how it seems to me that every single thing we see,  touch,  feel,  smell,  hear,  in our lives remains inside us and is there,   on that internal rolodex,  just waiting for it's moment to rise up again to emphasize any random moment  …… just Because.   and what is ?

just Because

i am a little crazy with this RAIN.   Beginning tomorrow,  it is forecast to lessen,  incrementally,  for the next couple weeks???

Because you grew the gourd and turned their original beauty into a beauty of story:

And yes, internal rolodex or what I call personal velcro: how it comes when pulled as it did for me, noted here recently, when I had a memory of 3 yr old self watching a canoe drift down the flooded street in front of my home due to the CA floods of 1950, because of the present reality of the intense CA floods of 2022/23!

I believe that too…that it is all there in our heads, what we learn. And that it comes together in fascinating and different ways for all of us. I hope the rain lets off soon for you.

Oh Tina, I have to smile because while it is true that I am an organized sort, Virgo and all, it is so easy to find these posts. grace has a search function on her blog and all I do is to type in a key word and I am usually able to find a corresponding blog post…

Yes, I think our minds save everything. For many years now, I have had the experience of looking at something which for some reason triggers a memory. For 3-5 seconds I will actually feel like I am back in the past somewhere. It is very intense….I will sense the entirety of the place—weather, sights, smells, etc. And then it’s gone in a flash. Still, it makes me happy.

Grace…yes! We are all, individually, such an accumulation of our previous time here. Whenever I think about this, I Always remember Sandra Cisneros’ essay “Eleven”.

Even though this is an unpleasant event for the girl, her eleventh birthday at school…I believe all of us hold it in some way…the happy and sad too. Very disjointed thoughts here. I pulled out my childhood babydoll the other day and I was 6 again.
Love the little gourd. Sadly, our gourd collection did not make the move. I was in such a frenzy, with so much to do. Oh well, it’s all stuff in the end. Also, I had a beautiful book on gourd crafts, which talked about safety. Please be safe. https://marthasgourds.com/gourdinfo/healthsafety.php
As for Dylan…super-sigh…Dylaaaan! He is my most beloved go-to for commuting music. He is (in my mind) such a lyrical genius! The phrases he turns paint such vivid mind pictures. I opened you tube to listen…and just keep going from one song to the next (one of my most favorite things to do). He is magic. sigh.
Thank you for filling me up today Grace.
