Baker Creek seeds…for 2 years.    i will need more.  but some,  i never even used last year…the Agastache,  Blue Spice Basil,  one whole packet of Cilantro….

Every Circle of Seasons,  Circle of a Garden,   all these Plans.   Some carry though   some not at all.   It's always been that way.   I begin again this time.  But this year is even different.   it's as if a spell is slowly being dissolved.   From those weeks of RAIN,   slowly releasing   slowly allowing breath.    Allowing the flow of Light and Air.   Two towels hung on the cloth line to become dry enough to sometime take to wash.   for now…just breathing in Air.   i realize that i feel a little crazy.    able to acknowledge that….  a little crazy.     Odd things.  Today i missed the Moosewood Cookbook.    ?????    i am very nostalgic for New Mexico…my wood guy,  Evan.   I wish i could give Evan all the downed Oak here.   He would love it.   He would mix it with Pinion and truck it to Texas.  His young family would benefit.     I miss Evan.

I have seeds to use up. I’ve been thinking about spreading them with abandon to just see what will come up. But really it’s not fair to some seeds. Some need more than that. 🙂

our public library has a seed catalog … literally an old card catalog that has been cleaned up and now has drawers full of little seed packets … the seeds are donated by townspeople and now I’m thinking maybe I can gather some of the Henry Duelberg mealy blue sage seeds … the wrens can probably spare a few

Small order of seeds this year from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds because I have such a small space and a lot of what I grew from seed, did not do well in pots. The little garden patch that I have, I’ve amended with compost and some purchased garden soil and most of my greens did well in this little space. This year I have only ordered the following seeds: Bok Choy, Hedo, the tiny variety; Wild Rocket Arugula; Little Gem Lettuce and Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach plus I will be getting a secret free seed packet from Baker Creek Heirloom because that is what they like to do for customers.
Have used our local seed libraries for many years when we lived at our other place, because we had a large, sunny garden and I also donated seeds. Here it is mostly shade with a sunny spot where tomatoes and herbs will grow in pots. We have a large sunny backyard that is covered with gravel and the dirt is hard as rocks, neither Rich nor I want the hassle and doubt that we even have the strength to try to tackle this with a rototiller and we have no source of nearby water so that is problematic. Keeping to a small garden and pots in front is easier.
My herbs and Swiss chard will be bought, easier for me and this year, we will only plant 2 types of tomatoes instead of 5…The two types of tomatoes will be cherry aka patio tomatoes and Cherokee purple or Brandywine unless I can find Green Zebra, my favorite tomato.
One thing I am going to do differently this year is directly sow into the ground rather than planting seeds in peat pots and then having to transplant them. As long as I can plant a few seeds, all is well for seeds are a promise and a promise is hope and hope manifests in so many good ways…one of them being the joy in bringing food to the table that you have grown.

I have the Woodchip pile now. Hopefully decomposed enough to give life to more than weeds. I have as many seed packets as you but only flowers, perennials. Bee balm, poppies, nasturtiums, lavender, cosmos catmint..more that I can’t remember. And my three blueberry bushes. Nothing to eat, for me, but the bees and butterflies will party.

No seeds here. No space or desire really. I understand your longing for well known, well loved places and people. I’m in between memories and the unknown, drifting forward on the current.
