coming up from B Garden late.  It's 8:27 pm.  90 degrees.   Something isn't right with camera,   the sky is flaming red with Sun Set.   Lo tonight   80.

Again today

Jenny and Alyssia ,  as yesterday,   come at dawn to fit in a few hours of Doing.   Yesterday,  the gate  for the new rim fence.  Today,   repair of the squashed fence that seperates Sunny Ray's back forest from the rest.  Creates a buffer  between us and neighbor Dave's  outbuildings.  Us and neighbor Dave,  really.    A large branch had fallen.  Chain saw.  Fencing  pulled,  stretched and re attached.   One extra Tpost pounded in.   They are strong women.   in body and determination.  commitment.  They work well together.   I learn to accept the fact that i no longer can  "hold my own".    it's not easy.

they were gone by 11 and i tried out some ideas about how to move through these days.   There will be more ahead.   Anything having to do with the stove should be accomplished by noon.   i  filled all Goat water and set the hose to trickle into the Spa pool.  Carried up notebooks, water bottle, clean wash cloth.  Made the bed.   Washed dishes.   Other things.  Anything that needs/wants to get done .    Spa pool trickle idea didn't work.   it got hot,  pool water.   ok.  What does work is getting the dress wet,  wring it out.  Wear.   a personal  "swamp cooler",  evaporative cooler.
Body is in survival mode.   Brain suspends all but necessary functioning.    Thinking,    thinking even,  is hard.

Oh gosh Grace. I’m glad you have a plan of sorts, but I do wish it was easier. Blessings for your strong women and for you.
Hot here too and off to work. Morning crows sit on apex of the roof next door, their shapes against the coming light.
    (((hugs)))

I can feel the exhausted pull of this in your words. Wet dress and stay hydrated. Siesta life-style. Be safe.

I think of you everyday facing the heat in our area…..I have to be done by 10:00 with anything outside…even earlier at times……then it is inside until nighttime when I make sure the visiting animals have water…..I send you cooling thoughts and places and ways to cool yourself off…..wearing wet clothes helps me too….please take care through this…..love to you…

Can you get to a cool place, even for just an hour a day? Like a library, etc. I remember when you lived here in New Mexico, you would say you were of the lizard clan, loved the sun..that is good but intense heat is a whole other thing. I had heat stroke as a child and I was told that I was very, very sick.
This may sound silly but I have done this to keep cool: put ice cubes under a baseball cap and let them melt all over my head and face. It looks ridiculous but it did cool me off! I did this in Texas and have also done this here…so with your wet dress, now you can add a hat with ice and you will be the epitome of “cool” dressing!
Please stay safe and out of this heat as much as is possible for you.

i’ve done the trick that matti suggests which works well. i’ve also put the ice cubes in a ziplock bag and then pour the water on later.
my other trick is to take a rinse-off shower right before bed or at the least a wipe-down with a wet washcloth. it makes sleeping so much easier without the salt from sweat on you.

Keep wetting a cloth worn like a bandana around your neck. And like Kirsten suggests skinny dip in the hose as needed.
We love you, Grace and want you to be safe. Love to those girls who worked in the heat!

Do they still sell those large chunks of ice? A chunk with a fan. Might have to go to the store a lot, though. I will keep my hair wet when out in the heat. I hope you go to the library, or somewhere with AC. Even a hand fan 🪭 on a wet head and body can be cooling. This is dangerous heat.
    I worry.
