it took this long.     This one single pic.    I started sometime around 6 pm   and then,  off and on,   till just now.    and i thought,  ok,  just once more….and then…..ta da….here it is.  and i don't even know what it was i was wanting to say………………    ………………………  something about that it's almost February …..the RELIEF from January,   February and Now WHAT?   

I've been watching CatherinE over on gemtactics  ,  her Sketch Journal,  admiring it so much and then thinking how i am doing Nothing and i got the Spirals from under things,  unrolled them and spread them out,  how they are so just pinned haphazardly,  i didn't even pin them well……     What.       So things tonight are nothing but Questions.   Just questions.   all falling under the category of

Now What?

    When you pose th4ese kinds of questions, I always try to respond…sometimes with similar experiences, sometimes with a story that is close to what the conversation is about, sometimes, with a “lecture” that comes from my heart so here goes:
    You are not doing Nothing…in my life, I have found that comparisons are just stressors. My NOW WHAT came when I started foraging for the gifts of the land, turning them into dyes and markings for my old recycled cloths and wondering NOW WHAT, when the pile of dyed cloths, grew and grew.I have never been someone who jumps on the bandwagon, wanting to copy what others are doing and that is because I simply doubted my skill with needle and thread. Finally, my own voice came and what I create from my dyed cloths satisfies me for it is simply continuing a deeply held conversation, non-verbally. It took a long time for me to become comfortable with sharing what I make with this community for fear of not measuring up, that old comparison thing but here’s the thing: What I have come to know is this: We each have our own unique talents, our own paths of creativity and this community accepts, encourages and is delighted by each others works.
    So in your own time, NOW WHAT will be come simply, NOW! End of lecture!!!

    Ohhhhh Grace … now what!!! You let the blocks speak to you the same way the fabrics did when you put the blocks together. How you can say you’re doing Nothing is crazy!! Getting inspired by Catherine and others .. I hear what you’re saying. You ladies continually open my mind and heart to all that is possible and wonderful.

    I’ve often found myself asking the same question ~ now what? ~ especially the last few weeks.
    Here is an old favorite quote of mine that not only comes to mind and rescues me to get un-stalled almost immediately ~ “Just begin and the mind grows heated; continue, and the task will be completed!” ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
    I’ve thought a lot about the tree(s) breaking so closely to your car. Your team looked at the surroundings from all angles, analyzing (beginning the “heat”). Pulled together all of their skills, tools, experiences, analyzing and compiling the “how”. “heating up”. Making decisions step-by-step, and then getting right on the task (made up of many smaller tasks). The “now what” became “done” now. Just an amazing job-well-done by the fine folks of “The Hill”.
    Your pinning may seem haphazard to you at first glance, but your foundation and ideas are right there, sort of like seeds in the ground waiting and ready to bud fully and bloom. I feel so happy and alive just seeing and looking at this Cloth with all of it’s hand work and ideas ~ ready to grow.

    was looking today and see that there is a day at the
    library when people show up in what they referred to
    as the Civic room with whatever “craft” they have…just
    bring it to work on and i thought…ok…i could take this and get it pinned down there…on their floor….

    Seeing all of them there…laid out…
    Perhaps because of seeing this last night, last night I dreamed of your new “room”. It was kinda your NM room, but not and every wall top to bottom was covered in your cloths. Most in shades of blue. I was so happy for you to see your space, where there was room to move and hang things. 🙂
