Thought for the day: Tenacity.
I no longer will have a tiny dirt garden (all plantings of herbs, perhaps some veggiews and flowers, will be done in pots.) So every now and then I do what I call, zen raking, I run my rake over the small expanse of soil that leads from the patio to beyond the apple tree to the carport latticed wall. A previous tenant had put down grass but I like the expanse of dirt, clumpy but now, smoothed by the rake and the lines formed, to me, are like straight waves of quiet and calm.
This morning I noticed that several gnarly roots are still hanging on, roots from what I had planted for several years, Swiss chard, Bok choy, arugula, assorted lettuces, walking onions.I thought of how we are all connected, humans, animals, plants, how in the face of what comes our way, expected and unexpected, we tenaciously hold on…hold onto what we know in our guts, in our hearts and because we do, we stand and face and keep on going.LikeLike
