I know vetch is poisonous for horses but I have some farming friends upstate that say it is also not good for goats in large quantities.

When we lived in TN, one day I went out and kept hearing such a sharp, metallic noise, bothersome but I couldn’t pin point it. One of the neighbors told me it was cicadas and their noise went on all day and lasted for about two weeks. It was annoying at times and at other times, it simply was a wonder. Not all of the state had the cicadas so during those two weeks, we took a lot of trips around the state to get away from their “music”!
Why should we be the only one who understand about the healing gifts of plants? When I read about the orangutan, it did give me pause. So much we do not know about our fellow creatures, especially the similarities…

I’m in a zone for the 13 year cicadas, brood XIX and maybe a little overlap with XXIII. They haven’t emerged here yet. Such an amazing thing but not really looking forward to the noise. The 13 year and 17 year broods haven’t emerged in the same year since 1803.

i watch closely how it is only present in 2 “small” areas
one, down at campsite A is open to Goats and it’s profuse
there this year for the first time. Has always been there,
    but this time profuse.
Goats are amazing. They don’t eat it at all. I suppose
they would if there were nothing else but there is so much
browse here plus we feed year round.

i think of what it means to them….or, what i imagine
it might mean…so much of everything critical to your
    species at once….
