waking from Little Sleep      opening eyes and looking    body still    just eyes moving     over ,   across the "room"  of the place i live    to the shelf of Altar      and there in the farthest corner      those Salt Cedar sticks                And i thought,         it was more like a sensation than a thought,         I  Thought/Felt      about those certain things  we   love with ummmm,  a certain Steadiness     a quiet steadiness    as years go  along

these pieces of cloth.    like the Salt Cedar sticks.     trying to figure out what i can        do    with    them      at this point in time,   but then   really,    it's that thing of the steadiness of the love

Those are the Authentic Love things that fill our “life bowl” – or whatever image suits you. The things that stay and stick and continue to mean something. Mean Something.
Don’t you just love that? Love that they are there, still and really need no explanation – just steadfastly there.
I heard in a video tonight, a man describe his strength, not like that of a superhero, but like that of: “It is the strength of a 200 year old tree that weathers storms and remains.”
These are the things of us, the things that remain, especially as we let so much else go…what stays is Important.
    Interesting guy,

As far as what to do with the cloth…something? Nothing? Take the time you need to know, not decide, but Know.

“the steadiness of the love”, this I know and I also know what to do with my latest cloth collage but … have not finished it. It went through many name changes until simply it became Bosque, woods.
I started stitching it a while ago with the intent to do a little every day but time was needed for the necessaries of care giving and when time opened up, I wanted to read, not stitch. I thought of how at one time, when I fully immersed myself in the spirit filled alchemy and joy of foraging and naturally dyeing cloth, I trusted that there would come a time when I would know what to do with these cloth pieces. When I laid out the pieces of cloth, of how slowly, I opened myself to the story that would come…How, in my way, I translated the love of the land into cloth story and how this almost daily work, was essential for me.
But life has a way of interrupting what was once essential…This morning, I realized that Bosque is made of of my almost last pieces of New Mexican foraged dyed cloth. While I do have scraps in my reed basket, many of those scraps are from older deconstructed cloths that I have made. The simple truth is that I have done very little foraging and dyeing in the past year and a half due to time constraints so this makes Bosque so precious to me. I do take it out, sometimes in the mornings and unfold it, sometimes taking it outside, putting it on the patio table, even taking it and laying it on the ground next to the grapevine, letting it soak up the spirit of place; touching each piece, remembering what was used to bring color and markings. This is steadfast love and for now, it is enough…

The quilt has a sense of belonging. It belongs to the place where it lies.

I sat with my table cloth for the longest time … started it and then stopped for over a year … and now that it is done, I miss working on it
all of which is to say, take the time you need, that cloth needs … it’s all good
