i've been in Chicago every night this week.   Amidst so many people experiencing the concept of     JOY,  maybe for the first time in a while.   Have loved watching,  listening,   then reading about what   i watched and listened to….the little details,  for one….this is for Nancy…how music was selected for each speaker,  tailored to their specifics,  my favorite being  as Tim Walz leaves the stage after his speech,  one of   "his favorite songs."…..Neil Young    Rockin in the Free World…..whod've guessed,  right?   As much as who was speaking,  i loved the faces in the crowd      it's been an alternate universe

and here,  to begin each of these days….this drawing,   just a few marks at a time but wanting to acknowledge What It IS.  They have come back every day after some days of a month gone with the intense heat…the two Friends.   small lizards,  Uno and Dos.   I'll talk about it more later.   It's almost done Enough.

Talking about songs…. Checkout Patti Smith with Choir Choir singing People have the Power. β€˜Nuff said.

Chicago known by the nickname, the ” windy city” lived up to the nickname for last week, we saw the winds of Joy, dignity, inclusiveness, civility and democracy, not only swirl in the air in Illinois but throughout this nation. The dancing roll call of states had me on my feet, creating its own winds of motion! I live in a windy place, New Mexico, where the winds can get fierce at certain times of the year. From Monday, Aug 19 and onward, the winds have been and are “fierce” and they are the winds of change…

I like knowing where you are, where you’ve been…I was there too!! Such a crowd, I didn’t see you πŸ˜‰
Everything Marti said. The utter JOY, in gigantic overdrive was balm for my soul, my current life. And yes the Music! What a Par-taay!
I watched online and the for some, I listened/watched again online…amazing speeches, crowd (size)…all of it. I too noticed the faces in the crowd…the glistening eyes, the broad smiles, the exuberant clapping & dancing…the powerful shouting of key phrases in Support. In Support of all that is good.
What we needed so badly that we didn’t even know how badly…or how great the lift would feel. How the trauma release is real.
After Kamala’s speech – the total scene at the end, I got curious, so I went to zoom to that ending moment on the RNC. Much more sedated. The onstage family, creepy. The long moments before the little girl even picked up a balloon and then just stood there – straight faced, NO joy…no PLAY…and the straight line of family looking out to a strange self-centered song choice. Beyond odd.

Also, Love this drawing. Parts of it remind me of some drawings I looked at the other day. Home, family of 3 scenes – mother, father, little girl – drawn by one of my childhood babysitters. I treasures them so much as a little girl, stapled together in a little story book πŸ™‚
