he was adamant to home school grades 4 through 7.   this coincided with Covid.    he became distant in family get togethers.  Announced that he wanted to attend public school for 8th grade and did.   Seamlessly.   Is a freshman,  public high school with mid term straight a's  including honors English and math…except for one….an A+ in English.  

yesterday he wanted to make a pumpkin pie.   From scratch.    He did.   This is  his first pie crust ever.  He told Alyssia he wants to make my mother's No Fail Pie Crust together with me.   Apple Pie.

I am grinning.  Ear to ear.

    He listened to himself, was allowed to do so by a wise family, knew when he would be ready and look at what an outstanding, fine, young man has emerged… Love to la familia, love to Julian, and above all, yes JOY.

    Quite a story of moving from within. Instead of listening to all those external dictates. Bravo Julian. And kudos to the adults making room for him! Iā€™d also put this arc in the category of ā€œa blessing of Covid.ā€ My Tuesday writing workshop goes in that category too. Two people from California, one from Washington state, four east coasters. Never would have happened if meeting in person.
