out of nowhere.    a facebook advertisement  that all day has held my attention.

the first and only thing in YEARS that has caught my attention,  that i actually might want to BUY….?????    I won't,  but  …..why would i???????

my wardrobe.   for some years now…..zip hoodie sweatshirts ,   over things and under things,   this time of year the So Loved Wool Sweater   a kind of camouflage   Black and GreyBrown   i blend in.

Want to blend in.   If i wore this…..i would be         noticed.     at the Post office or the Dollar Store.

So…where Would i wear it?     Here?    the trees would see me

Ah, the trees may see you, but would the earth, the rocks, the flowing water? Would the edge of the sand against the ocean, with a low hung sky see you? Perhaps the bright rain drenched grasses would see you and maybe the brilliant spring flowers…but what about the sage and the ripples of your very own heart?
It is beautiful weather it drapes against your body or not, but wouldn’t it be fun to find out? And would it be just as fun to imagine it and have the gift of it feeling, fitting, expressing just right?

Do we wear clothes to be noticed or do we wear clothes to adorn our very selves because it makes us feel good to do so. When I was a young woman, of course, I wore clothes to be noticed, fluffing my feathers so to speak…
Now it is all about comfort but there are those times, when I want to shine, just for myself, and so I put on what I call my nicer clothes or fancier shoes…why? I do so because I am an old woman, who remembers how it feels to dance in joy with clothes that flare out, that have color that bedazzle. A woman who dresses fancily for herself, who wears these colorful, fancy clothes, when the mood strikes for they say, Here is a woman of spirit, of joy, of silly-ness; a woman who dances and swirls and flounces just for herself…a woman who dances as if no one is looking AND that is my point. Wearing a beautiful, special, new piece of clothing is about honoring the self: we honor our very selves when we bedeck and adorn ourselves, to signify that we are alive on this earth so I say, buy this lovely garment!

It’s beautiful… Like Nancy (who said it so well), I thought immediately about rocks, ocean, sky…a different environment. Like Marti I believe that clothing should be about joy sometimes, should make us smile. There are lots of good reasons to want something like this but I also understand choosing not to. 🙂

This garment really appeals to me too. It is lovely. Practicality is important, but when something speaks so strongly to you there is more to it than how usable it is.

It’s very beautiful and I could imagine you in it. But I’m wondering about the fabric. If it’s flimsy or synthetic, it might be a disappointment.

It’s delicious, Grace. You could wear it at home, to town, for visiting, for holidays, for gathering flora, feeding fauna, writing, stitching, emailing, mailing, reading, bird watching, warming your bones, while watering, taking a nap, drinking tea or water or wine, playing with Minnow, taking photographs, doing laundry, journaling, drawing and painting, hunkering down during storms, meeting me for lunch, taking the children for ice cream, hiking, taking the kids to the library, sleep-overs and sharing with Emrie,
listening to podcasts, watching Rachel Maddow etc., shopping, falling asleep. All the special activities of everyday life. I see you in it.
