We step into the new year, 2025 and begin again. I stepped outside this first day of 2025 at 3 am and cold does not even begin to describe it. Came back in and checked and wouldn’t you know it, outside temp was 25 degrees… Took it as a sign. Saying Happy New Year doesn’t cut it. I will say may we all hope for moments of happy in this unknown year that we have stepped into.
As is my ritual every day of the first day of the new year, I put away my seasonal decorations, rearranged books and placed my stack of New Mexico magazines on the table, with the issue of New Mexican pottery on top because I now have 3 New Mexican handmade pot on the table. The pots rest on two of my naturally dyed cloths. Two of the post come from from Jemez Pueblo, the other, a gift from my family when they traveled to Madrid during their time with us for Thanksgiving. I look in particular, at the Madrid pot, small kind of bronze glazed, squat and I fill it with the red Native American corn kernels from the corn I grew in my other New Mexican home. I like to see those kernels, symbols of the land, one of the three sisters, hope in a seed.
Later this day,I will spend the day with Cher because one of my wonderful gifts from my daughter Erika is Cher’s Memoir, part 1. Head tripping back into the 60’s, my time to stand and face and take it to the streets, the 70’s when I married and my heart overflowed with the birth of my twin girls and so on. Feelings of nostalgia, yes, but also renewed strength to take what comes in this year of 2025. What I know is that I “walk” beside you grace and all who come here, the women that I have met through our sharing and connecting on so many levels. Love and respect to all.
Peace to us all and know that there will be moments of quiet joy, happy moments this year and when they come, grab and hold onto them…LikeLike

As much as I enjoy filling in the New Year calendar with birthdays anniversaries etc. I really enjoy looking back at all the already forgotten people places and things that filled 2024. Waking up to the news out of New Orleans this morning I don’t have much hope for an uneventful year. But what I pray for every New Year is that I hold on to my faith by not taking my Blessings for granted … hold on to my love towards my family and friends. I look forward to growing intellectually and artistically which having you Grace and all who visit here keep gifting me with their time and generosity.

Happy New Year, Grace. The future is a construct, yes? But we do what we can to feel ready.

since we are conscious and thinking, I feel it is all a human construct as we see it. a matter of perception.
