what is their reason?,  purpose?,  place?    i squat to study them,  they're  small,  not even 2 inches tall,  their SHAPES…the leaves,  flower like and they're in profusion in some places…here across from those Parasol Mushrooms by Jack's gate

i just wonder about them as i spend some of the day watching  the Lookout,   Zeke Lunder   with all his maps…him explaining fire behavior….how we got word today that Finally,   next Tuesday the septic guy will come,  dig the hole for the site evaluation,  the County will be there to grant their approval…or not…..and building here can begin   or not

and i see that the cemetary where Octavia Butler is buried in Altadena was spared

    Well, aren’t they pretty. 🙂
I listened to two different Lookout videos today. So informative. I’ve learned so much. The one tonight he and a man from Watch Duty analyzed and explained fire behavior and what kinds of plants/trees around a house are good/not good. We talked about what is outside of our sliding door, running along the corridor. I looked them up – they’re okay…he mentioned Sycamores are ‘good’ (we have those big ones across the driveway) – pines, not so much…we have those too. I thought about you all and how your place may look when the hill gets built on. I learned (or maybe was just reminded) that Zeke is out of Chico. Did I know that and forgot? I love his maps and the layering. I could play with that myself. haha. The other day he showed how Pacific Palisades has had a fire in almost the exact same footprint every decade since the 1960’s. makes you wonder if we will ever learn to live “with” instead of trying to bend to our will. J. even says I’m using some of the fire lingo. haha Fingers crossed for the go-ahead for the septic. xo

Your opening questions this morning have had me thinking all day, wondering about the meaning of “purpose” & “reason.” Those two words — which we all use so often — trouble me a little. They seem to have an underlying message that everything must be “useful” & explainable. Maybe their “purpose” (and ours) is simply to be alive and to contribute to the enlivenment of the infinitely beautiful and ever changing Earth community. And maybe their “place” is simply “wherever they are at the moment.” ….? …In any case, these small green beings offer/are a gift of amazement to those who notice. Thank you.

i haven’t said much…there’s not been a lot to say. This has always been the first step. not just a “perk” test but
he digs a large pit that the inspector can walk down into.
Code is strict. because it’s land never before built on, the seasonal stream and the creek make it more so. it’s
very expensive. But NOTHING can happen until this is approved. Then…electricity can go forward. Maybe this
    will be it.

yes…exactly. simply to BE. it’s an understanding
that takes time to come to know…for ourselves and for
    all.
    Thank you for knowing this…..
