In some states, scarlet runner pods are listed as toxic and invasive. You can probably google “is scarlet runner toxic” and find more info.

I’ve definitely ordered scarlet runner beans from Territorial Seeds and Annie’s Heirloom. We live on the California coast in Del Norte County. It’s been a couple of years since then and perhaps things have changed?

I didn’t know that! They are not invasive here in Maine, but our climate is so different. There are probably other types of red-flowered climbers that would nourish hummingbirds.
On the subject of trellises – A friend builds teepees to support climbing vines. An easy trellis made of sticks leaned against each other.LikeLike

I want them for the humming birds. and i really, really want them for the hummingbirds. So maybe this time around i just build a beauty Full trellis?
