this morning i thought to add a border piece along both right and left sides and kantha stitch this.  too much.

but, even for my kind of primitive sensibilities,  the raw edge just wasn't right.

so…just kantha stitched the plain single cloth side, right side in pic and it adds some sense of something to it i think.  will let it be awhile .  i don't know if that will work for the left side.

and…this is our post office this morning.

Wind is here today…very very much and constant and Strong and just blew down the far fence.  so off i go to see if i can prop it up.  oh sigh.  every spring part of the fence goes down.

Grace, I think you made a wise choice. I really like the kantha stitch on the plain edge!I wonder what this piece would look like if you stitched it onto black, leaving another rough edge as a border?…I bet that would be really dramatic!
“every spring part of the fence blows down”. Think of it as an elimination of boundries! 😉

i was thinking of something like that…not the whole
    thing, but that left side…..
well…about the fence…a good thought, but the fence
keeps 4 dogs IN and many OUT. we have many many loose
dogs around here. they fight. the normal dog of mine
may be able to hold her own, but the 3 chihuahua/terrier
would lose in a minute. they have no sense of their
small size. i would have never chosen to have them. they
belonged to the man i was married to. my inheritance.
    so…

I agree. It’s been good to see this piece grow.

Ha, I have a mini dachshund who thinks he can take on big dogs so I understand about that fence. Yesterday was very windy here too. The birches were dancing with the cedars and the cherry tree swayed as
she watched them…herself being too prissy to join in.
Somehow that small cloth with the bird
is enough by itself. When I framed it with my hands it was enough, even more than enough. Watching with interest your dancing with this
cloth. And respecting your patience and attention.

I agree with catherine to stitch it on black. I think it just wants a lot of stitching. I have found that stitching is really changing my indigo piece. it makes it feel so much more like one cloth. almost like weaving.
windy here yesterday too. sunny and cold but the sun and the moon are so outstanding.
will write soon on the other subject we discussed. i am thinking of it a lot
