yesterday some family was here.  i had taken down things hanging from the ceiling,  cross beam to the Room so their heads wouldn't be bumping into them.    i cleared some surfaces.  vacuumed.    moved piles of fabric onto my bed to clear chairs for human sitting          and this morning, it all looks so spacious.    and looking at the Magic Diaries cloth,  i suddenly see the Grass Person  who is always on that wall to the far left.    but i    SEE   her.   she has been hanging in this house for as long as i have lived here.   the Grass People are the only of the fiber figures that were repeated.  their bodies relatively the same shapes, always one hand holding something, one hand receiving.  they are also the only of the figures that had no human facial features, but rather faces like grass seed.   and i thought how in so many of the cloths i've made there has been strands of grass.   and realized that one of the strongest personal symbols i have is Grass.  and here, i am speaking of wild grasses,  prairie grass,  desert clump grasses.  native grasses.   in other places it might be those fierce tough beach grasses that hold shoreline.

anyway….actually SEEing her this morning i thought how grasses can maybe tie together these seperate images on this cloth?

am going to do as Jude reminded today…print out some pics and draw on them.

so the grass person appeared to you… and you received her message. funny how we don’t ….see…. what is before our eyes when it is there all the time. she plays a guardian figure on your cloth…. like the role that jude’s beasts play on hers.
its so nice to see grass woman again…tell her hello from me.

those eyes see far beyond, between the
threads of time. i just know it.
so i wonder what (in)sight the grass
person might share. . . hmmm
    mystical being.

Your grass figure is so beautiful and appears wise. Sometimes the Universe tells us in simple ways what we need to hear. Sometimes it slaps us upside the head. Have a beautiful weekend.

i called it the green man when i first saw it….
    is it about the same?
i would have to add a slug to any grass persons here as our weather has induced a slug-boom this year. ugh.

Cristina…all those “dolls” i made had words that went with them. the Grass People had similar words…
    i never wrote them down
    but something like
standing on the rim of the world, the Grass People do
    not weigh or measure,
simply extend a hand to receive the Given

well they haven’t left the NW…and can you believe there are non-natives taking over? course there aren’t to many predators of the slug that i am aware of…except maybe a nail on a stick…oh, and other slugs.

I’ve been reading “The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating” by Elisabeth Tova Bailey, checked out from the library. I am looking at snails in a whole new way. It is very informative!

banana slugs are native to this state, yet they are hardly seen anymore. they have their place in the eco-system. it’s the brown slugs that have taken over and eat everything!

grace i am sorry about going off on a totally different subject here…your grass person also makes me think of bees on clover. there is a wild patch of purple clover across the road, that no one cares about. maybe i will have my granddaughter dig it up and we will plant it on this side of the road. the flowers smell wonderful!

Oh Grace, this is so amazing. I thought She was a root at first. But She has roots there, her feet? She must be a kind of grass with very very deep roots, the kind that protect the soil and draw nutrients from very deep in the ground, giving and taking. And it is so nice to see Raven today, looking so gregarious and smart. Just amazing to see your magic.

your grass person looks like a very ancient being with eyes that seem to reflect a long history. at first glance, i thought she was some kind of vegetable.

Wendy…all the “clump” grasses here are amazing. they
place themselves…as in little communities, tribes…
choosing Place for no known reason to me…but there will be settlements of certain kinds. some do have extremely
deep roots. some just superficial…but MANY filaments.
the Mexican Feather Grass is like this. there is a book i have…A Field Guide to the Grasses of New Mexico put out by the Agricultural Experiment Station of NM State U
258 pages of detail on grasses. I love it. the descriptions are like poetry to me:
lateral awns shortened, rarely longer than 3mm
first glume noticeably shorter than second; inflorescence
    narrow, contracted
    the branches erect
    secondary branchlets present and usually well developed;
apex of lemma strongly twisted 4 or more turns
    Native.Perennial; dry plains and
    foothills.
and yes…one foot has roots. and Raven. well, he knows.

Your grass being reminds me of one of Christina Baldwin’s exercises whereby one envisions a guardian spirit and a safe space wherein to meet her, then dialogues with her (in one’s journal). Those eyes are reaching and intense.

THANK YOU. for your words here.
The Grass Beings were probably the most loved. Here in the desert landscape there are what are referred to as clump grasses. Not a continuous community, but just small clumps that stand Sentinel on some small horizon of a land ridge.
They are so amazing in their ability to WAIT. Rain may not come for so long, yet they stand, waiting. They wait as long as it takes, then Receive, wholly and completely Receive.
i love looking at her Eyes with you. Thank You.
