Wow, now THAT is a cool dude! (or dudette, whatever the case may be!) I’d like to get in there with h/her for a little dip and sing magic songs in the night. And a lovely “raveny” feather.

a dudette…it’s one of the Aunts.
am looking at the raveny feather…it’s actually my
crow feather….
wondering if i should stitch more? or not…..wondering
the cloth is the reliable color i can get from mulberry in the rusty cast iron pot with Sun raysLikeLike

Oh, how I love the aunt! I miss having frogs and toads. Your feather reminds me of the monument to the battles with the Nez Pierce Indians in Idaho. The monument stands high in the foothills and the feathers withstand the heat and cold.

That color is GREAT! And I like the feather as it is, looks like some rather weathered feathers I have… gives a sense of age, though I could also see it looking wonderful stitched more.
Hey, speaking of eco dyeing, did you see over at India’s blog that I won her blog giveaway? I’m going to get a package from her, isn’t that so very cool? She’ll be just an hour from here at the workshop she’s teaching in New Hampshire… I should have told her to save the postage and I’d pop up and get it, cause having just sent something to Australia, I know its not cheap!!
happy stitching and blowing in the wind…
August blessings from the mossy forest, waiting for rain today….LikeLike

Love your feather Grace and the toad .. cute in that pot. My molly dog went out last night and was quite taken back when she tried to grab hold of it and I knew it was something but it was dark, I was just praying it wasn’t a snake. I made her come right in and she kept shaking her head .. I got a flashlight and decided I had to find out for sure what it was because I was worried. And there sitting in the flower bed .. a toad just as big as yours. Sittin there .. just sitting .. probably startled being attached by a dog .. but she appeared unharmed .. the frog that is .. the dog got a dose of “don’t touch me” in her mouth .. i just wiped it out haha ..

A windblown feather…a crows feather. Just perfect Grace.
Your ‘aunty toad’ looks very happy in her watery spot.

i tried to google this monument…didn’t find it????
when i used to love to draw faces, i often drew
Nez Pierce people. so this is a good connection.LikeLike
-
my grandfather had an old dog Pooch who would do that
OVER and OVER. ????? the toads always look quite smug.LikeLike
-
yes…i think so. i don’t often find crow feathers, felt
lucky with this one.LikeLike

yes…it’s one of many “spas” i ordinarily fill for them but this year didn’t. this was, finally!, rain water.
contentment.
mine is as pictured and now in an envelope ready to go
on Monday.LikeLike

grace, i went to sleep thinking about this feather. it seems so real that it could be picked up, touched, ruffled. that if a wind blew through it, it would have a new shape and story to tell.

I don’t think she said what I won… its a surprise! Now that’s fun!
I like my forest, too! And I look forward to finishing the building of my new studio/workshop space so I can have all kinds of amazing teachers come and bring their skills here. Waiting for the check from the grant so I can start to build.LikeLike

that toad is huge…and looks so comfy.
i could have guessed that was your feather. i love it’s one-sidedness that gives it movement and a great touch with the magic thread.LikeLike

Hi Grace,
Yes, it’s a beautiful ruffled feather. I finished my feather today after several – once again- trials and errors.I am still working on the story.
What a great proect – and also once again – so many different creative results on one topic! I am so grateful to be part of it.
Have you got my letter yet?
Best wishes,
evaLikeLike
