    Hi Grace,
The circle, of course, because it is the most prominent feature. But after that, the most beautiful detail is the frame of Kantha stitches! I really love the white stitches on the white background.
But the thing is: whatever you spot first…the whole piece is just awesome!!
Thanks for your advice about CA. We will definitely go north.
    Enjoy the day!

Eva…then you can be a “scout” for me…tell me what
you see in your travels. we are looking at way north…
around Red Bluff, Redding. the most south would be
the town of Chico. but towns are almost a non issue, its
the OutLands that we look closely at. this will be great.
when you are back in Germany you can tell me what you
think about where we want to go…how great is that???!

first, my eyes go to the textured edges leading to through, wondering what i will find as i push aside those soft flaps, then take a step back, using a finger to trace the circle- landing on that blue sliver of a moon, touch the birds and fly on through! just wonderful grace!

the story on my end has been very fluid. it began with
one thought and then has moved back and forth, in and
through, around. this truly will be an interesting cloth
when the children see it, use it.
in the beginning, Wendy and i had the thought of “finishing”, which then became “continuing”, and i think
that maybe it can be both but also the children will
    possibly see different things?
as i look at it here and then here in person, i am interested in what that kantha means to me. it has become such a strong symbol of edges. so i am thinking a lot
about that as i finish the small things left to do.

I like it so much. the circle gives me the feeling to be at home – not a real home but a place where I can be the person I am. Cannot explain why, perhaps of the harmony it emanates.
I printed it and put it on my pinwall. it makes me feel better when I look at it. Thanks!

Grace, this is beautiful. My eyes see the circle and then it focuses in on the stitches and birds. At first I thought it reminded me of the world, but now I see a hug. Perhaps a world wide hug? Wishing you a wonderful week.

my eye gores to the top yellow cloth first, then down the split and them i imagine putting both hand together and parting the cloth as my arms make some circular outward motion. and then if i go through some circle of motion is left behind. and as each person might move the through the circle’s image might become stronger.

I love that this is IT. I LOVE the small birds, gives the piece a grand scale for me. I think I went immediately from flowing around the circle to flying through with the bird on the right, flew back around and through following the trajectory of the bird on the left. Cool beans.

my eyes go first to the kantha, and trace the perimeter, then to the circle which reminds me of an interior landscape. then the mysterious journey inward through the third eye.

good. i see the yellow bar first too…almost simultaneously with the circle and then the split to go through being followed or accmpanied by the birds.

Grace this is amazing! My eyes first went to the circle as a hole, then the split (which feels like an invitation to me) – from the bottom up – touching on the birds (I too am pleased with their smaller size, seems right). Then I looked at the top bar – white golden white, yes and the stitches on each end adding such a frame like an announcement of importance. It feels inviting, invigorating – like there is just so much beyond…come with me…you are welcome here too…
Thanks for sharing this Grace. Goodnight.

    Hi Nance,
thanks for your kind note!! No, we’ve been to Portland years ago and we love it! Powell’s Bookstore is the most amazing and tempting bookshop, the Japanese garden is worldclass (yes, it can compete with some really nice gardens in Japan!) and as a special treat we were introduced to Japanese food right there in Portland -which triggered a passion for that cuisine! I still get “Haystacks of the Month” from Cannon Beach’s quilt shop.
But this time it’s just northern CA.
But as we carry a really vicious travel bug in our bodies – yes, Oregon is on our list (again).
    Have a great day,
    eva

Nancy…good, then. it is important, i am thinking, that
there is a strong sense of the beyond, the Next. but,
again, we’ll see. these children are so gifted beyond
anything we know or imagine. their experiences have
given them such a fine line of sensitivity. they are
    tuned
    like strings of a cello

    oh grace..
    i also love kantha
in weaving … you can weave a straight piece of fabric and then wash it. it can totally change and become all these little designs going in different directions. it is called tracking. i will put a picture on my blog. that is what kantha does for me. it gives a texture that increases the depth of the cloth.
    wonderful, wonderful cloth..
