when nance said something about continuing a line, couching, i'm pretty sure she wasn't thinking this,  but…here we are

i really like the Wad.   really.  so stitched it down.  and it makes it all better, but it's not quite IT yet.  not sure what will be next, but          this is good.

and here, just as an aside,   i feel like i have moved these two things Enough times and if there is anyone out there who would like them?????   the "granny square" piece if 4ftx4ft   and perfect.

the other is about 5ftx5 and is missing the final square.  this one is really HEAVY.

if anyone wants them, i will be HAPPY to send.  more Thrift Shop rescues.

Sandy, well bless your heart. They are YOURS, whether you change your mind or not.
i will need your address…you have my email address….
oh!, i am happy. i brought them home because i worry so
that things will just end up…well, you know…but they
have been folded nicely on chair seats for too long.
i used to crochet, so have tenderness for such….but i
really don’t need them and i am very into keeping only what
    i need.
maybe you could dye them ???????????????

The larger piece maybe dye-I really want to meet it first. I adore the smaller piece as is. I have a couple of granny square afgans I have rescued! One small like this one. I will hang them next to one another. I am soooo excited. Going to email you now.

I love how spontaneous and so right that felt to you. It looks cool. I had thought the center may look good in lots of thread beads. But what if was both? Sort of a stitched and flowing – more raw – juxtaposed together…just thinking. I like the naturalism of this 🙂

what a great idea! so you have tamed the blue a bit, do you like it better? is the thread all couched down?? even those trailing through the flower?

i like that line, the tangle, and esp where it surprises by emerging thru the flower. it links up this to that, a continuum.

Sandy..just a suggestion. When they arrive, layer them together with some kind of stitching. I did this with another pair of rescued tablecloth. On their own they were more air than string – stitched together they are my favorite nap blankie. the heaviness says “be still now, and rest a while”.

yes….i thought of thread beads too. i’d gotten out
some of the cloths from all along in the classes and
what stood out was the thread beads in one. for such
small things, they have Large effect. i think i’ll
    try some today

taming the blue. yes. it’s better.
the thread IS pretty much all couched down, or in places
sewn through. yes, trailing through the flower and even
the part that trails away and down. there are some spots
that will still move, but that’s for later.

    linking this to that, yes.
and the tangle. it was more of a good tangle before i
began to stitch it down…but there is enough tangle
energy left…am thinking this morning of weaving through
    some other color????????

when i was thinking about doing it (which lasted just a
few minutes before i just went ahead) i was thinking that
it wasn’t a legitimate thing, as in clothily acceptable,
but mostly i wanted to see what it would be like.
i think it is still not really clothily acceptable, but
i like it. i have been wanting to find a way to create
Wind all along and the closest i came was with the silk
gauze i dyed in Glennis’ first class so long ago. but its
very fragile. and once i actually stitch it down, it loses its wildness.
so…this is good. i want to work with it more, like
add some different variations on the color. maybe even
on another individual cloth someday, dye some cotton
crochet string…i can reliably get Wind color in that
    cast iron pot……?????????????????????
and YES. i woke in the night and thought..well, of course.
    WindThread. duh.
and i think, yes…i think it WILL be what runs through it, through the whole. that and stitched wild grasses,
which i “saw” when i printed it out in black and white.
    am very happy this morning….
such love for you and Spirit Cloth…….it grows and grows

‘wasn’t a legitimate thing..’ grace grace grace CLOTH is just stuff made up of string things when you get down to it.
    maybe bits of cloth will get caught in the windythreads, ya know?? or maybe an egg, bird or lizard {do all lizards lay eggs? not something i have thought of before}

Vicky Vicky Vicky, yes yes yes, i know, but Still.
and yes…i am sure that bits of cloth WILL get stuck in
the windthreads…have “seen” it already. some lizards
are livebearing, but the majority lay eggs. the blue
whiptails here do the egg thing. AND, interestingly enough,
are true unisexual species. all individuals are female, so
there is no mating. A mature female lays fertile but
unfertilized eggs that hatch into more females..???
as my granddaughter said to her brother, Girls Rule here.

wow… so great… all the comments are wonderful. grace…i did not have an idea of how you would do the line… just had the thought that it could be accomplished by couching. what you have done is wonderful ..beyond wonderful. adding another color would be excellent. woven underneath too so you don’t hide the wonderfulwad! love the unfinished square in the lace offering to sandy… sandy this will be perfect for you with your love of vintage…
back to the line… you can use this idea anywhere you need some continuation.

    repeat like a mantra
it’s just for two weeks, it’s just for two weeks
but…i can imagine. i remember once making myself
something of a wrist brace with cloth…tyeing it around
my fingers so i had limited motion….yes. wierd.
    it’s just for two weeks.
