what's left of the wood that isn't wet….under the tarp.  behind, the compost, where a couple days ago were many footprints, including the skunk.

005
both this and the pic above taken from inside the house…the living room window.  it's raining.

much of the day was absorbed by this very very small bird.  could you have known it was a bird if i hadn't told you???  i learned a lot.  the original  that is seen in previous posts was just 3 scraps of some of Deb Lacativa's damask.  i just loved it in that form.  but, as i stitched it down, it became threads, seperating threads.  so i kept at it and here we have the result.  not at all what i had envisioned in the beginning, but i will let it remain, to remind me in the future.

Definitely would have know it was a bird…. wonderfully expressive and exuberant grass,
and all you all out of wood before winter?

    oh, good about the bird.
yes…that’s the Giant Secaton grass. isn’t it amazing?
    it’s taller than i am.
no…there is a whole new cord that got delivered the
night it snowed. then, by the time the snow was almost
    melted, it’s begun
    RAINING
NOT how it usually is…i am
    TRYING
to get right with it, but oh, i do not love rain

I knew it for a bird right away…almost knew what kind but the name flew away. Isn’t a rainy day in the desert some kinda miracle?

yes, a blessing, anyway. and yes. i know. but it’s
    also
    cold.
i looked up today what lizards do in winter and they
are probably down under those pallets that the wood
    is on. cozy.
or, under the rocks, the raised bed wood, even the
    compost.
yes. and i really really work to welcome the WET. as
that Giant Secaton does. storing it in it’s roots for
    other days.
    i am a whiner.

i like that it’s blurry. i personally never really see completely in focus birds. they don’t sit still enough for that….

blurry…a good word. a blurry bird with an odd tail.
    good then.
here, since things are much more singular (desert), like,
    a tree
    bird
    in a
    tree
they are much easier. but i like that.
    blurry.
    how flight would make it.
    thanks, Serena xoxo

OH, YOU HAVE ALL GONE TO BED–WHEN IT’S 10:43 IN NYC WHAT TIME IS IT IN YOUR DESERT? (I AM NOT YELLING WITH CAPITALS, JUST LAZY TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH AND MY EYES ARE ALWAYS A BIT “BLURRY” DESPITE GLASSES–SO FORGIVE ME. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU FOR DAYS SINCE BEING GIVEN A BOOK–I’ll email you the picture of a lizard that caught my eye. As for the bird, when first seen by me I thought butterfly (blurry eyes will need a laser soon)–but, well, it seems crane-like to me–with long legs trailing back in flight, and golden because it is being illuminated by the sun–and, as to flight–seems to me when the direction is left to right the action is forward moving–and since it’s tilted on an upward trajectory–seems headed for higher altitudes. As to rain and snow and cold winds that blow—inside is the right side to be. Still okay here, rain due in a few days and chill in the morning air.

Yes, a bird taking off, going somewhere, rather purposefully. To me it seems to be a girl bird, I’m not sure why…

Surely a bird. If a cow can jump over the moon, surely a bird can too!

yes!!! the lizard you sent is wonderful. i just love
them. all kinds. gechos, chameleons, all of them.
and again…they are really into making eye contact
    with human beings…
Sun remembered to come back today.

i saw the motion of the bird first, then the body. every bird can fly around the moon…even if it is just a perspective thing.

i remember way back when i was in my little schoolhouse i would dry the wet firewood in the fuel stove oven overnight, with the oven door open. it’s a dear little bird, let it fly, let it fly.

Michelle, I thought it was a butterfly too. Everyone else thought it was a bird so I thought I wouldn’t say anything. But in like it anyway…

well, really, a butterfly would be even greater flying
over a Moon, wouldn’t it. so…we will leave it a
    shape shifter…either way is good.

i saw a bird…and the best thing about it is how strongly it’s flying. i can almost feel the flap of pushing the air down.
