along time ago i knew that if you want a friend, you must also Be a friend.  i want to apologize for being me me me and not visiting and commenting so much lately……it's not for lack of wanting to, but rather just trying to keep up with this life and the stitching.  but i wanted to say that i know i'm doing this and intend to fix that as soon as i can.

and to get up to speed

006
this is my granddaughter, Alyssia in her kitchen in California.  she's in the Navy.

013
this is what some mamas look like when they come home from work.

010
this is what some little boys do when being chased by their old nana (me)

016
the best thing ever…my "headlight" flashlight.  he was thrilled, said it was his "helmet", "like knights wear".  Julian.  2 1/2.

i had not expected to so Undone by him.  i said a while back that i don't "miss" things.  i miss him. enormously.

003
while i was gone, the Iris bloomed.  i'll pluck the dry ones to dye with.

001
it seems that there are going to be goats galore in my world for at least a while, so to celebrate that on the Diaries cloth…this little crazy diamond shape.  at the moment it's got that lizard tail..????  i might leave it like that……..

004
and the decision is made.  for the upcoming Jude's Boro class,  it won't be the linen vest, or the beautiful flax traveling jacket.  nope.  will go back to the long ago thought about my "noragi"…  my work jacket.  which is my most oh so loved heavy duty zip up hoodie.  i love this sweatshirt more each time i wear it.  it's what i wore To california, all while there, and Back from.  it's what i wore last night when i was feeding the goats.  it is what i am wearing today working to create a birthing pen.  it's seen its newer days…i found it at the Thrift Shop maybe 4 years ago?  replaced the zipper this last winter.  and now, for boro beauty.  i feel really GOOD about this.  really really GOOD.

so, now i'm caught up.   hey ho.

    oh, grace
it is hard to keep up with a comment on everyone’s blog. you have been over the top for everyone. no apology needed to me for sure. i count you as a friend and will continue that.
i love seeing your family. i miss my little guy that lives in philly. it is harder when we see them, makes our heart hurt to go.
your life is full and we all have that going on..
can’t wait for the boro class, though i will be away from the computer when it starts. i will catch up. i am looking at a linen shirt for my project and continue my kimono.
    glad to see you here..

Oh my oh my…. that’s all, really. Life. Full… me too. If I didn’t live alone except for a small, furry one, I’d probably never get to follow blogs.
I find visiting family harder when I return and am alone. Its not that I feel alone when I’m here, usually, but after being with family – with them or them here – then I feel really lonely for a while before I settle back into my quiet life of trees and cat and stone whispers.

The fullness of this post: the richness of a life made up of so much: la familia and I include the goats and forthcoming babies; la tierra, Cloth – all that could ever possibly be wanted or needed in this life, here, now…

Oh, Grace, I have missed you. I haven’t had time to follow for a while. And when I have read blogs lately, I haven’t commented much, even at Jude’s. But some of my obligations have been fulfilled and I am back to soak up the poetry and beauty. Your quilt is so fabulous, and I, too, just love getting those packages from Deb. Looking forward to Boro class. I plan to finally get into my silk kimono jacket that I thought I would do during the magic cloth sessions. I was recently sharing the idea of storytelling cloths with visitors to my quilt guild show, and I could see the light come on in people’s eyes to realize the kinds of things we do here, and to hear them say “I am going to try that!” made my heart sing.

no need to apology. Life, goats and family are much more important than blogrolls and commenting on the internet. And thank you for the wonderful post.
I too am looking forward to the upcoming class. And we will “meet” there then s

    Good morning Grace,
Could you please post the picture that you put next to your beloved jacket? I am thinking of a similar plan for Boro II:
Going back to my good old kimono sewing days.
Well, maybe you don’t have time NOW…but anytime would be fine!
    I really love the pattern…
    Have a great day,

It’s hard for me to fathom what you’ve already accomplished, escaped, re-imagined and recovered in just a handful of decades….all that loving things and people….all that living. Your family are always coursing through your blood, as all families do, whether near far or gone on. karma is deep. Julian is adorable, You are a natural wonder. But, what about those goats? And what about Indigo? and Wow your cloth is moving along again. I just woke up in the middle of the night (it’s almost 3 AM). wandered over to the computer thinking about you and Jude…and wait till you see my post tomorrow morning.

Grace, you are the best of wolf women, not a ‘me,me,me’ person ever. Your little Julian is gorgeous, makes me miss little Jacob wherever he is! It is exciting thinking about the Boro class and this time I am determined to post more. So just keep the coffee going, it is going to be busy here. Hugs.

I feel full now that I have visited you and read through your recent posts. You have been really busy, yet it seems just the right amount to me.
I totally understand about stitching on the same cloth for ages, and then all of a sudden understanding it from a new angle. Cloth can be our best friend.

I would be completely undone too Grace…Julian is a gorgeous little man. Lovely to have been able to visit family. I’m sure Alyssia and Julian loved having you around…your beautiful energy.
Your cloth is beautiful Grace, a reflection of you.
We all get busy, so no need to apologise.
Looking forward to more of the goats, cloth, indigo, family and all things that are Grace.

hello there, indeed no need for apologies, you have been away and busy, with goats and family; and Julian, oh my he is just so adorable!! yes, tearing yourself away from him and his mother, whew…at least you have the goats to keep you occupied;-) and the class soon. what a great idea to use a hoodie, I have a green one lying around (someone gave it to us for the boys but they are not interested) and I also have three other hand-me-down jackets, enough to choose from! alas, I too will be on holiday the first week (with my entire family and mum, dad, my sisters’family and my brother plus kids in sunny Portugal)fabulous book in your next post, bye for now Grace (thanks for visiting x)

This post and comments made me cry.
Yes, Life before blogs. As it ‘should’ be.
I do better if I do not think of my grandson and children, otherwise it is too heartbreaking. Something about the fact that he calls you ‘old nana’ is so deeply touching. And that life goes on…life and death of flowers while you are away…so bittersweet. Maybe I’m in that kind of mood, head space today, but even the ‘diamond’ is somehow touching to me.
And that quote about being a friend…I thought of it yesterday, to use it for something related to my blog! Funny, eh?!! You have helped me decide that it is the one!
When you have time, please do post your boro noragi as I was not able to take this next class and will so very much miss all of the beauty that comes with a Jude class!

yes, it’s hard to keep up, but i also love it. this
cloth community is as much family to me as family. just
a different part of me. mostly, i just wanted to
    acknowledge that i am aware.
driving the 14 hours to see this small being, AND his
mom was found to be POSSIBLE. good to know. i CAN do it.
and now, i will. once we get to understand that it will
be ongoing, the ache will be less.
am looking so forward to this Boro too. as you and i
have noticed before, we have come along since the beginnings and it will be interesting to go forward.
    love to you…….

for me, it’s the little one. so “new”, so earnest.
he is just so HUNGRY for Everything. he has a really
great extended family there, so i don’t worry for him at
all. but i guess mostly what it was is that i didn’t
really expect him to like me so much. but he did. a
LOT. and not just as another adult to interact with,
    but….really, his Old Nana.
    what to think about That?.?
