yesterday the current issue of Snow Lion came.  first thing i noticed on front page was

The Simple Path…an excerpt from Anam Thubten's new book,  The Magic of Awareness.

"The practice of true devotion is devotion to life.  It is not devotion to some grand idea of divine, but devotion to life itself.  In that process the notion of "your life" and "my life" dissolves.

There is only life.

It's like sitting in the ocean.  There is no my ocean.  There is no my sky, my universe, or my cosmos.  There is only ocean.  There is only sky. There is only cosmos.  In the same way, there is only life, and life is already unfolding."

Grace, what a great post with such beautiful words and photos of new babies. I’m sure that “behind the curtain” there is a tremendous amount of work and long days, but looking in from the outside, I see nothing but pure love.

Twins, sigh… while I know that multiple births are normal, still, twin babies tug at my heart and these little kids are truly special, the first born on the substation. Lovely coloring and markings. Were you and Jenny present at the birth?

I took Landmark Education and one of the things they said, was that we are human being not beings…as in we are one.
There is Magic in Awareness…it changes everything. I need to buy that book…again than you.

it is. and is so full of an unqualified zest for
Everything!…they are so innocent in their beingness.
like their motto is “take the first breath and GO!”
    today they learned to hop.

yup. the first born here. there is a tendency to make
something special out of that but i am quickly learning
the reality of them, that if you breed them, some must
go. be shared with those who want them. so these two
very well may not stay. at first i mistakenly thought
there were two doe s but not, a doe and a buck. the buck
most likely will be neutered and become a wether which
most often is a companion goat to a breading doe or another
buck. they are great 4H goats. on only a rare occasion
are they left intact to become a herd sire.
Present?, i was. there was much vocalization out there,
before the time that i usually do the evening feed. i
went out to see what was going on and way in the back, by
the sticks propped against the fence, Ginger was on her
side, bleating bleating bleating and it was clear what
was in motion. i ran inside getting towels and wet wash
cloths and out and sat on a stick next to her…her
water bag for the first one was already bulging out and
when it broke, the first slid out with one more contraction. this all so familiar to me from my own
labor with two children. it’s no different at all.
as she cleaned this one, the next repeated. Jenny was
expecting only one. It’s Ginger’s first kidding but she
did a flawless job and continues to do so. they suck
from both teats and she “stands” for them with no hesitation. she is flawless too with her response to
people and the dogs…keeping herself between them and
others. i am looking forward to milking her. i think
    she is a keeper.
Jenny had gone back to Cal the day after we got here.
she’ll be back at the end of the month. but will not
be living here. coming a day or two a week.

We get to care for baby chicks – 3 of them – thru a library program beginning next week. Just for 2 weeks but it will be fun. So we are gearing up for a little baby animal excitement here too!
