i'd made a deal with my self that i couldn't post anything here until i finished that left panel of Kantha.

and that stitching needed to occur between the daughter arriving and then a lot of Goat Stuff.  but… here.  it's finished.

001fix

013fix
this is what the bottom of the left panel looked like yesterday morning.  you can see how much slack there is from the extended kantha.  like the ruffle on Mo'a's apron.

003fix
here's how it ended up.  it's uhhhh, got that xcess, but i don't really mind it.  i probably won't do anything to disguise that.

002fix

004fix
001fix

and the thread.  it is quite secure.  so will remain as is.

i am really really happy with where i am with where the Cloth is.  now, i can slowly, as it goes, work on the center.  stitching down and maybe adding somethings or maybe not.

but i want to spend some time for a while working on a few things for the Boro 2 class.  and i have some dye pots going out there, making some interesting colors.  so that too.

congratulations! it is just so beautiful … wish i could touch it. did you do kantha beneath the pieces that are on top? amazing that you could do all of this with the goats…. maybe this is what keeps you calm. another form of meditation. sending love out with all those stitches.

Lovely work–I have gone back and read all of your blog–a-maz-ing, Grace. I have always used patterns–am now exploring and taking Jude’s weaving class–quite an experience–kind of like jumping off and not knowing where you will land…sowly gaining knowledge…..Julierose

no…did not kantha beneath. that would have not
resulted in the excess at the bottom. but when i was
putting the appliqued on, at that point, i was not
even imagining doing all this kantha. it came as a
    surprise………
it somehow is the same as the goats………..

I’m not sure, but probably, I have never dyed before but feel like it’s probably coming next. The landlady is a gardener, weaver, and used to do her own dyes, so maybe I should pick her brain. I’m certainly open to any suggestions.

you have a perfect resource then. the dyeing just
seems to come along as part of it all at some point.
i am just very basic…put leaves or whatever into
pots of water out under that SUN.

Wow!!! Your magic cloth is gorgeous!! I can’t believe that amazing stitching. I think the ruffled edge is just right. And your dyed cloth is looking lovely. Don’t you just love dyeing with indigo? I want to put everything in the indigo dye pot just to see how it will turn out!

Joan…this Diaries Cloth is the cumulation of all of
Jude’s teachings that i have absorbed so far….going into
3 years now. i love it most for that. everywhere, on it,
when i look, i can remember her saying things…and
OnGoing. i have ALWAYS longed for something SOOOO BIG
to learn…and this has proven to be it.
i most often dye with something else first and then
into the indigo…i am really trying for the color of
that button jude had on her blog a while ago…a deep
indigogreenindigo……i will keep on trying till i get
    it.
i just LOVE it All. sigh.
