    Hi Grace,
time can be a cruel judge….I recently got rid of some old love letters – 30 years ago that would have been impossible. But now: no big deal!Okay, you’re revisiting your cloth – well, I think it is beautiful. It aged well!Time didn’t do any harm!
I think that’s the proof: your work IS good.
    Best wishes,
    eva

Today in the chill and fog of my morning San Francisco walk, I have a moment to come here and warm myself. How well I remember Rooster Flower but it is your new face grace, she of the long strands that may or may not contain your personal signs, the lizards, the birds that fills me. Always, a deep connection from the threads of your cloth. Who is this woman? Is she one woman or many? Does it matter? I only know that from scraps of dyed cloth, thread lines and drawn lines, she brings a gift of beauty, knowing and connection and I thank you for her…she is what I have needed these past two months…

Grace I love your use color. The colors seem so fitting for where you live. I like how subtle they are but how you vary them which makes my eye travel around feasting on the beauty. I also am inspired by the density of your stitch which adds another element of complexity.
My colors are so different from yours. I wonder how much where we live affects that.

The idea of many women held inside this one really appeals to me for are we not all many women within one body?
Thank you for this thought Marti.

you know, i don’t know., about Where We Live…..
for sure, many of the things i am using are just as this
land is here. part of that is that the cloth i dye with
local plants gives these colors. so that is always
my “ground”. but then, what i have been “talking” about
with the cloths i have made is the sense of no~seperation
    between human and earth.
but i Thank You for bringing this up. i am enjoying
    thinking about it.
and yes…your colors are different, but…are these
Washington state colors? or colors that you are just
    innately attracted to????
    What do YOU think??????

Maybe it is a little bit of both , where we live and what is innately inside of us.
In Washington we have the bold green evergreen trees as our backdrop all the time. And we are able to grow beautiful colored flowers here. Check out my blog.
From your photos it seems where you live there is a subtle change with your seasons. Aha where you live there is always some ground showing. Here because of the water our earth is covered with green plants. The word “ground” struck me in your reply. I will have to continue to ponder that one.
As far as what is innately inside us. I have recently realized that I am drawn to bright colors because inside me is black and white. I have been working on this for a long time and things are growing inside. Even being part of this conversation is part of that. So bright colors give me hope and the sense of being alive. At the same time I really appreciate the subtle use of colors. Like yours!!!!!
Thanks for the conversation Grace!!!! I am grateful!!!!
