Doing a LOT of looking.  Looking over my shoulder at the Wall this morning.  getting up, going over there looking close, looking far.   Shapes,  how the seeds did not want to be literal, but more images of Urges.

this one's my favorite

but then…it became looking at color…the interplay

008f
it wanted these.  and maybe a deeper brown, too.

But, then, a Rearrangement of the Wall….and here, i really don't know what i'm looking at.  but again, it has to do with color

009f
i moved the pinned Red piece away for this pic

012f
but then, i put it back.  There is something i want to See.

the top two cloths are two of the first i made in Jude's first class…Spirit Cloth.  and that one to the right is the place where pieces of the Unforseen are gathering.  the vertical cloth to the left of the Garden's Dream is from last year's dye pot…a really odd color.  and then, of course the little Experiment with RED.  there is something going on here, but i can't yet See it…..   So i am going out with the Goats for the rest of the day and let these images move around in my mind.  Come back in much later and look some more.

yes…that square eyed seed…it is so tiny and i love
that it taught me more about how to make something so
tiny part of the cloth…that Extended Applique that
    Jude taught us…

Grace, I see an ancient story in this piece. One of pyramids, magic and people who have scattered to the four winds.

Did you draw that bird sitting on top? I like it there. Just coming to visit you like the crow of your wishes from the other day. Xo

Rothko would do that kind of looking. I read a bio of him a few years ago, and apparently he would sit and smoke and look at his painting. Then go home. Then come back and do it again the next day.
Visual communication takes a lot of time from us, the makers, so that the viewers can ‘get it’ in less time.
    love to you.

    Visual communication.
i have to take this long looking time to see ummm, how
the cloth can speak? to see how it can “show”, something.
so there are all these unknowns. the cloths have so far
begun with a scrap with a scrap. a shape. 2 colors and
then it goes from there with me having NO idea what might
come next. and then suddenly there is a story and following
that, the work to see how that story can be shown. and
i am really as much a viewer as anyone else. it all
    unfolds for me too…
it’s just a miraculous process for me. new every time
so far. and i wonder if it always will be so new every
time…even now, wanting to look more at how crows might
be on a cloth, or how that drawn eye might say something, the actual cloth itself i never know ahead of its
    appearing.
love back, Judy….i love all the things you tell me about on your blog….

i love your allowing of different pieces to speak simultaneously – to you, between themselves.
