so…in this moment, there are 5 thread events.  these are aside from the 6 seeds, the crow and the strings.

these thread events are like small conversations in a language i don't know.  this is a garden's dream, remember?  so…they have appeared.  i am at a point where it feels like there is enough going on.  a lot of invisible basting to do still and a lot of somehow stitching down those thin threads at the top, like just holding them in place.  enough to hold them but not enough to HOLD them.  and at the very top, Wind is there to finish…but again, not too much.  (all the cat hair doesn't count)

i love working on this.  the order of the weaving being so strong, but then, these seemingly small things that in their subtle way, really stand out when looking at it hanging there on the wall.   so much like a garden is, this time of year….a lot going on, but you have to squat close.  listen for it.

When the garden is stripped down to its essentials, in this time between winter and spring it holds the most because if you are in tune, you feel the subterranean energy taking hold and that energy offers up the promise of roots sinking, shoots rising, rebirth. All of this I feel as I look on this cloth, palpable promise…

I just wanted to say how much i love your work and how it speaks so eloquently and, seemingly, directly to me – that’s all 🙂

to me, the woven cloth speaks of thread in a way, so thread events seem natural here.

perhaps 5 is enough, but if 7’s your favourite….and oh those close-ups: they’re so intimate

Hi, Grace. The combination of garden and cloth is so pleasing to me and yours is beautiful. The stitching is inspired and I love the meandering couched threads at the top. So free, blowin’ in the wind…
    best, nadia

Sorry grace! Not one magical quilt but a magical number of seven quilts to be finished – and bags of fabrics and fragnents of poems, an image or two etc.
