am going to put this here now and then spend the rest of this evening out with the baby Goats.   just sitting there, letting Them take their time in coming and going.  there is a beauty Full sky all blue and with clouds.  no sign in this moment of storm but that can change in a heartbeat.  but  this is the intention and as i write this the oh so clear and piercing call of the Meadowlark burst through.

so, here

IMG_6407f

i am very taken with this.  All this time,  all this learning, thinking, making,  and about finding what is one's own marks, images….yesterday with the Waiting about Buckwheat,  these marks that i referred to as Vibrations.   and it's funny, not ha ha, that they did not come from a Thought, but, rather from a thread.  Nance had sent me a skein of thread as a gift.  it's from Christine Mauersberger.  i knew that she was offering  things like this in a shop.  but i didn't pay any attention, really, thinking what i have is good enough.   but, Nance sent it.  so…yesterday,  maybe from anxiety, i pulled a single thread free and just began.  Can you see it here?  kind of  curved back stitched marks???  different directions?  crossing through the edges of the face and into the adjoining scrap?  and i just DID it some how…the first set and looked and then continued and these came to portray the Vibrations that i feel surround everything????  and when i was finished for the day i thought that i had come to some kind of Personal Symbol.  Finally.  after all these years.

part of it is just Going, but part also i think is the complete pleasure in using this thread.  it's 70% silk and 30% cotton.  it's a beautiful off white,  perfectly off white.  and how it goes…through the needle into the cloth and leaves a mark, but not a Line.  and i am thinking about how this thread could be put into a dye pot.

So, i say:  christinemauersberger.com  Hank and Spool  Thread #5

now, off to the Goats.  Maybe, just Maybe i can get some pics.

I can see them; stitches crossing the edge of scraps are just the most wonderful to me. This is all so beautiful. I’m going to back and read what you said about Vibrations yesterday… and a wonderful personal symbol. Thank you Grace.

two things I noticed before reading: the folds in butterfly wings and the wavey lines, fluttering of wings, vibes you call them: they are truly remarkable

agree with Mo, the lines are strong (and yet, delicate) and loose (but controlled, somehow) and free. They seem to say more than it makes sense that they could… sense with my head, anyway… ALL of your work has appeared to me, a viewer, looking from afar, to be expressing YOU… but I’m happy that you also now think your work is expressing you.

those vibrations…they express something that i needed
this cloth to address…that delicate place where
the LARGE ORDER and the small doing meet and merge

Two things… I am thrilled that yo will try dyeing the thread. I just started dyeing embroidery thread and was really hoping you and marti would try it too… The second but most important thing is. I want to celebrate you! Finding your personal symbol is a milestone. Happiness !
