Magnificent; and the basket, with the pattern you have been looking at is right there. So, is it too much to ask “how did you do that”? Walnuts are starting to fall here, and I still have a pot I’ve been using for two years. You’ve nudged me. I have to do something. Thank you Grace. Love to you.

wendy…i am SO ecstatic with having the walnuts this year…and
really, the pot is new…only maybe a week old? but it’s a cast
iron pot. that might be important. and again, what i think makes
a difference if the water of where ever we are. the water here
has all kinds of stuff in it, not all good, either, but it does some
    interesting things.
the oval is from that Sardine can. i had one top for ever, lying
around all rusted, and then when Jude began her tin can dyeing, i
got another tin of the poor dear fish for a clamped resist. gave
the cat and dogs the sardines…so it worked all the way around.
so the cloth is clamped on four sides inside the top and bottom tin. then i just bunched up the rest of the cloth and tied it in
place with thread. went in to the Farmer’s Market …WHERE I DID
SCORE TWO DOZEN EGGS THIS TIME…and when i got back took it all
apart. so,…this is about 2 hours in the pot.
and again, the silk noile was previously tea dyed….that kind of
pale ambery yellow i’ve been using, so i don’t know how much that
had to do with the Earth color. i’d really been expecting more of
a grey brown/black. but, not at all. i need to try it on different previously UNdyed fabric.
and i did bring it in and wash it with dish soap. None of the
    color washed out.
i think that’s it…and remember, we are looking at it here with
Sun setting behind, so the patterning is more obvious. will photograph it tomorrow “as is”, without Sun. there will be a
    difference.
i so much look FORWARD to what you might do with your walnuts…
as Jude once talked about, it’s great for over dyeing commercial
cloth…that’s what i am hoping to do a lot more of. i forget
the proper expression, but it tones things down…there’s another
great word for that, but i can’t retrieve it in the moment.
so…i’ll watch your Place to see what you do…
    LOVE, and more,

EEEEeee indeed, lovely lovely! I love to read about all the dyeing that you all do. I have done tea but I still haven’t gotten over several artists of my knowledge shortening their lives dyeing their fabrics. Of course they were not using natural dyes like this but it trimmed my sails somewhat. I have read with delight both of India’s books but somehow it hasn’t grabbed me; happy to buy from those of you like Deb Lacativa and Glennis and …even if only in small pieces. It has to be a passion, done with love I think.

it’s an amazing Thing. making color. and i choose to work
only with the Plant dyes. but really, in thinking about it, it’s equally a serious thing…like homeopatics…they are very REAL and POTENT
this is a very interesting thought…thank you for it….
