yesterday,  Starling and little red Goat began playing hard.  it was the first time.

Starling was the agressor.  little Red Goat is quite peaceful and pretty much only is interested in his mother's teat.

his coloring is really very Fine.  but this does not ever mean it will carry through .  it's always a fluke, coloring.  it is of its own accord.  but still….

anyway…this was Saturday evening.  Earlier in the day, a woman called from the grocery store in town where i'd posted a flyer.  She, her two kids and her mother came to look.  i didn't say anything because what seems to a totally great idea in one moment can change in the blink of an eye.  they said they would be back this morning.

maybe.

But/and they WERE.   the Mom.  the Grandma.  the son, Trace.  the little girl, 18mos old, Trinity.  they came to collect their Goats.  Trinity, in her pink shorts and lavendar plastic sandles needed to be put down….she

STRODE

if an 18 month old can stride,  she STRODE from the road fence to the Goat's place and turned, looking at her grandma and mother, pointing forcefully…..

"mine" she said.

they are a ranch family.  these Goats are hers, Trinity's.  she's not yet 2.  but she will feed and water them.  this is how it begins with ranch families.    as we took them from the Goat yard and put them in the transport crate i loaned them,  Trace, who is 10, as he took them from me, said their names.

little Red Boy Goat is

Buddy.

Starling, is

Charolotte.

i asked why Charolotte?  and he said…its a pretty name.

so.  ok.  Charolotte and Buddy have gone of to find their destiny.  and i am here.  here to think it all through.  think how i was so full of angst about it and how, this morning it could not have been more right than  RIGHT.

and here we are.  2013.  the New.  Nogal,  Celia and Deb's Karma.  ok.  here we

Go.

i wrote that. the list. Them. they appear as words, marks,
    names.
but each is who she/he is.
    all particular. all individual.
i said to granddaughter the other day….find out, from your
mother. find out if she is still ….uh…..wanting. OR, if she
might need to be free of them.
    no answer yet.
    but
what if? What If?, she wants to be free of them??????
    What do i do?
Snowbunny. the first. her and Daffodil who now has her own
Life. but Snowbunny….who set herSelf against the two german shepards that came to ravage daughters babies. Snowbunny, who had her neck and chest torn and ripped. who daughter tended. cleaning, irrigating, caring deeply for her wounds. Snowbunny, who the Vet said Let Go. here she is. her snotty self, running the herd.
    What Does One Do?
    i don’t know.

HA! Well, I did think you had cleared out your herd in astonishing speed and with little regret as though there was a big shift to being a mini-goatherder. LOTS of goats. The new neighbor up the road a wee bit has three goats, and a few chickens. She’s giving “sustainability” a go. But she’s ordering grain – organic grain from Oregon cause its “better”, even though there are many local folks making feed that is not certified organic, but IS organic. She doesn’t seem to understand that buying hay from a neighbor up the street and grain from a woman in the next town is WAAAAY more sustainable than buying designer feed from Oregon. Oh well.

So out of curiosity… Buckwheat has papers… Right? Comes from a lineage. So what does this mean for Nogal? Can he have papers too if it would be good to have them?
And I am wondering about those girls in Phoenix and the one precious boy.

Trinity. what a fine name for a future goat woman. and there’s a sense here that it was a very good match of goats with ranch family. big sigh. big relief. now how many more will go? thinking back now, isn’t it amazing how much you’ve learned and expanded to encompass all this. truly amazing i think. wonder full actually.

no…Buckwheat COULD be registered. isn’t. same for
any of them here. Could be, aren’t.
They actually could be registered any time.
For me, i think i’ve decided it’s not an issue. You have
to participate in shows and things to get your herd known
to make a difference. Jenny was doing that and had what
it took. i will never. so, for me, it’s just as well as
it is. For now, i’ll just focus on learning cheese.
and yes…those girls in Phoenix with their little prince…they ARE a wonder….

isn’t it a beautiful name? and yes. i was so happy
about this match. i love ranch people, their kids. how
that’s how they do it. from so young. it is just
    a way of life.
i have been thinking about it in the last days…how its
been a year. trying to get a good sense of this last
year. in a way, it feels like much longer. it has taught
    me, for sure.

    Love this story.
I thought you had no herd left. Thank you for the inventory.
As I daily continue well into the second half of my life, I get great pleasure in finding the RIGHT home for beloved objects that I’m letting go.

things we love. suddenly looking at things to Give…
thinking, instead of: i have so much
i have so much to Give….
