Finished.  there are a few details that may or may not ever happen.  but, it's finished.  what's missing in these pics are the wool socks.  but it's afternoon, early eve and it's Warm and i couldn't bear it.  But here we are.  The pleasure of making this HouseDress that will provide WARMTH in the coming months has been enormous.   it will make a huge difference in COMFORT.  you can only wear so many layers of "pants" without feeling so bunched up.  this,  well,  there hasn't been a real test yet, but i'm feeling that this will do it.    and it came out exactly as i had imagined it.
To sew it BY HAND, to feel how the single strand of embroidery floss Marryed the cloth….just
was such an experience.
so in the morning i'll be able to try it out.  it's not Really cold yet, but cold enough to Tell.  i am looking very forward to that.

and i hauled in the big box that will be the fire wood box.  that will make it better, as far as Mess.
I won't know if it works till i try it.    but that's the way almost everything is, Right?
nurse Cindy stopped by on her way from the Old Folks Home where she still is Significant Other to one of the residents.  She quit there and works in Albuquerque now.  But she stopped to check on my hoof trimming and gave me a gold star.  so…in this time of Purpose less ness,  things are good.
ADDENDUM:
Evan,  the fire wood kid, who is not a kid, but a young man with a woman and a child,  just pulled up.  you can hear his truck.  VRUMMMM  VRUMMMM and he is pitching the wood over the fence in the Dark.  in the Dark.  whatever his Unforseen was yesterday,  he is here.   it's Dark.  i can hear him.  i went out for a while, talking to him, but then left him,  to fling the wood over the fence.  There is a Certain Goodness to this too.  Evan,  who works for the Forestry Service by day and delivers Fire Wood by night.  in this World, which seems less and less reliable by the moment,  Evan's arrival is a deep and Strong goodness.  He says he'll be back in the morning to clean the stove pipe for this season.  …and as i write this,  i hear his truck engine fire up.  he's done.  has
pitched a cord of wood over my fence.  for this,  i am deeply grateful and very very glad.  When we let them,  things are Good and Right.  for everyone.  All is Well.

Really nice dress, Grace…so satisfying to make something comfortable…I’ve been working on something I’m calling my sleeping costume…it is very cozy and I’d be happy wearing it all day, except then I wouldn’t be able to change into it at the end of the day…

Good job grace! I can see how it is going to be just so right for you . It’s going to be all the things you need from it. Isn’t that the best! And you made it yourself. I love that feeling and am going to do it too! I have started collecting pieces of dyed wonder that I will some how cobble together into a shirt!

love the dress and the thought of each stitch lovingly tying it all together. can imagine how good it feels on. i’m throwing stuff in my black walnut vat left and right. hesitating to dye the white long vest i made some while back–but just about ready to do it. white is a stupid color for me to wear–although i love it. always some thing finds it way onto it.

Grace…Your dress is wonderfully just right; my love of layering, especially with many thin or thinner layers in the colder times of year has included pieces not dissimilar to this dress. I am encouraged to see what can be put together for a morning extra layer here…for the one who seems to be pulled to the outside with camera in hand when it is near to or below 0…thanks for the “tutorial” and inspiration. It is also wonderfully grand to know that wood is piling up and ready for your warmth in home as you stitch on cloth through the winter….so much goodness and delight in this post today. Big smile time for me.

layers. layers are a dilemma. i start to feel really
bunched up. this is in an effort to relieve the Bunching
and i think it is working very well.

Yes, it’s very nice…the way it waits…Also, I like the little sleeves on your dress, and it looks like it has big pockets, but I can’t tell, it might be part of the dye pattern.
