spent time looking at this.  the "imbalance" of the Apricot Tree.  the second tree ever planted here.  just a twig then.   Why might this be?  and i made notes of it on the Calendar, so in the spring, if there are anomalies,  i will remember this.  and understand more.  there is a young one,  under her.  maybe i should take her out and plant in her own space??  maybe not.

and more kantha.    i kept having the urge to leave that central place of Light ummm, free.  and i did.  stopping, then beginning again below.  the color in this pic is not at all true, but i waited too long and needed to use the flash.  but, it's beautiful, isn't it.  looks alive.  and i am looking long at that, too.

and i read.  more.  way beyond page 15 and it continues to be a really excellent book.  with so much i read, books i buy,  there is the magnificant single thought on a page, like page 15 here,  but then the rest kind of dwindles away.  not with this one.  amazing,  her research and deep well of source.

and this is good because i have yes,  a second cold.  i haven't had colds for years.  and now, the second one in maybe 3 months?  The Old Folks Home.  spending as much time there as i have been,  touching so many people.  we Share.  Everything.  cold germs too.  so i went to town and got the tried and true.   When the Maniac (the person i was married to) began his journey into his death,  it began with a viral pneumonia which i got.    and in keeping with the news of the day,  i called the local "clinic" that was supposed to be for those who did not have routine medical care.  Speaking to the intake person,  i was told that since i was independantly employed,  i would need to gather letters from all my employers (ten, at the time)  and bring them in.  so they could determine my place on a sliding scale.  i told them i would be more than willing to pay Well Over that amount, cash,  to be seen.  Nope.  i was so sick,  i could not imagine going around collecting ten letters of employment.  i didn't have the time.  so i went to the big drugstore that USED to be here and in one of the departments was a woman named Grace, an herbalist.  she said…Easy.

Osha from Rio Grande Herb Company.

i'm only a fraction as sick today.  but i want to get it done with because i need to be doing things.  so i have my bottle.  Osha Root…grows wild all over here…Wild Cherry bark…Licorice root…Peppermint and Eucalyptus.  if ever any of you need a cure…let me know.  i'll send.

My remedy: homemade chicken stock with about a gazillion garlic cloves and a good amount of chiles. Simmer, strain and drink away. Here in New Mexico, chiles are everywhere; sometimes when I lived in Tennessee, I couldn’t find them so easily so then I would put about 20 drops of Tabasco sauce into an 8 ox cup and pour in the chicken stock…cut most of my colds in half.

today i made a batch of Red Chili for that old guy Tomas at the
Old Folks Home. i made it with HOT HATCH. and ate some by the
spoonfull. i am a strong believer in red chili. so many people
here sould be dead as doornails from what and how they eat and
live, but the chili keeps them going waaaaaay past anything anyone
would imagine. and the stock and garlic, yes too. but i didn’t
have the energy. and yes, i know, that’s why we stock some up in
the freezer. i expect to be fine tomorrow. and if not, then
    off to get a chicken.
i’m thinking more and more lately about having Chickens. WHAAAAA!
strike that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT ADD. DO NOT ADD. DO NOT ADD.

Even lopsided. that pear tree is mighty pretty. You can easily cut it in the very early spring…just prune for shape….and likely it’s the light that has it growing that wayin any case…Don’t know if you can pull the baby…but it would be good to give it more space…still, only in very early spring.
2/ Your cloth does look alive…I like it lit like that too…looks like an old daguerreotype.

    this might interest you..
    Types of Pear Trees
European pears (Pyrus calleryana) ripen in late summer. “Bartlett” pears are the most common pears found in supermarkets. Other types of European pears include “Bosc,” “Anjou,” “Comice” and “D’Anjou.” The fruit should be harvested green and stored at temperatures between 35 and 45 degrees F for a few weeks, then brought to room temperature to develop best flavor. Pears that ripen on the tree have a gritty texture. Asian pears (Pyrus pyrifolia) have a rounder shape than European varieties and require only about 400 chlling hours to European pear’s 600 hours. Asian pears taste best when left on the tree to ripen, generally from late summer to early autumn. They can be used to cross-pollinate European pear trees. Varieties include “Chojuro,” “Niiataka,” “Shinko” and “Tsu Li.”
    Climate
Some pear trees are fruitless or nearly so, like Pyrus calleryana “Bradford” pear, while others fruit abundantly, like Pyrus calleryana “Capital.” Whether grown for lush foliage and beautiful flowers, or for the added pleasure of fresh fruit every year, most pears like to grow in full sun to light shade. Although slight variations may occur among different varieties, European pears generally grow best in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 8. Asian pears grow best in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 9 and 10. In areas with mild climates, pears can tolerate salty coastal environments.
    Soil
Pears can grow in loamy, sandy or clay soils, though they do best in rich, loamy soil. Clay soils are heavy and tend to drain slowly, while sandy soils are less able to retain moisture. Clay soils may be rich in nutrients, but too much water retention can cause problems with root rots and lack of oxygen for the tree. Loamy soil generally holds water without becoming waterlogged, and has more available oxygen and nutrients for the tree’s roots to absorb.
    Amending Soil
While you can’t do much to change your climate, soil amendments such as compost can improve drainage in clay soils and slow it down in sandy soils. In addition to altering the moisture retention of soil, amendments improve the ability of these soils to provide vital nutrients to pear trees. Rich soil provides the best medium for growth and fruiting. The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources website recommends 1 inch of soil amendments for every 3 inches of soil.

what an extraordinary piece of cloth it is; all of a sudden I’m thinking about what you’re doing: making a useful piece of clothing is really what sewing is all about, I mean why we started sewing bits together in the first place, not something to hang upon a wall and admire….it’s not gonna stop me from making ‘art’ but still it got me thinking, you got me thinking….

well…we are thinking together then. that thing about
    usefulness…
it’s so very good, when you really have a USE and need
something useful for that. like this housedress. Actually,
a MorningHouseDress. it’s particulars. the softness, the
Warmth of the Silk. i NEEDED these things.
and friend Nance sent me 2 softly worn corderoy jumpers.
so,..these are Excellent outside work jumpers. and this
jumper thing is prompted by not being able to find a pair
of levis in the GIANT stack at the thrift shop that are
actually my size. seems as if they are all those huge
baggy things OR the skinny skinny kind with spandex. and
so…i go Retro. back to the 60’s. Jumpers and leggings.
    …then it was tights.
anyway. and i have my beautiful wool blanket robe i made
in Cloth to Cloth. So i’m SET. i don’t really need a
    single more piece of clothing.
and this brings us to Part 2. again, reading that book that India Flint suggested.
Another NEED is making things that just are inside me, that
want to be Outside me, that are seeking to create companionship, Inside/Outside. these are the cloths that
go on a wall or are pinned to a curtain or just draped on
    the back of a chair.
i am finally, i think, totally at peace about them. they
just Are. They just Rise up. and i am letting myself
not question that but really fall in love with it.
Cloth Making is my Lover now. i’ve always had a Lover.
when i was a little child it was SEEing that was the Lover. seeing just anything at all. looking. and then
the Creek and woods was my Lover. and then for so long,
boys and men. and in there, Mothering was my Lover. we
DO need usefull. but we, or i, also need a Lover.
these are just immediate thoughts. still thinking.
    xoxo

well Grace, I think seeing what we make as a Lover or maybe just Love is an excellent way of putting it, really truly excellent!
Because the fact of the matter is I can’t stop making so useful or not, it’s what we do
..and also, looking at the top pic of your outdoors: how different from my part of the world, the sun and the clear blue skies, the dryness of it all as opposed to my wet, green muddy world, all aspects making the whole

Grace, may I also suggest Thieves’ Oil, for protection against the inevitable germy times? My friend has used it consistently for years – she doesn’t go out often, and when she does, she has less immunity because of her solitude. She swears by it. Young Living Essential Oils carries it – I know it’s not cheap, however, many love it.
I love the color of the apricot leaves. Fall brings us so much color beauty.

did you mention this before? i remember reading about
protection from the plague…what an amazing thought/image
and you’re right..it’s not cheap. but i am thinking more
and more about how we do so love
    cheap
    anyway…i’ll think about it..THANK YOU…
and i was talking to the cashier at the grocery, telling
her i felt like i should wear gloves to give her my
money and thinking she must get Everything in town, but
that’s what we agreed on…that she is exposed to so much
    her immunity is throbbing….
