from yesterday.  i need to say,  the Indigo cloth in the center is Jude Hill's work.

and this will Rest now.  the central cloth, of the Firmament,  is the work of Deb Lacativa.

then, OutSide,  i looked at how "debris" had settled as it dried and fell,  blown by Wind.  how it found edges of things to tuck against

i see how i walk in exact certain ways,  to and fro,  and those pathways are compacted in this sand almost like cement.   rain skims the surface and runs off,  collecting in those tucked in places.

hollyhocks remain green year round.  their leaves are torn and stems bent, but once the warmth settles in,  they continue to grow….the moisture held by "debris".   Debris.  i like that word.

a zinnia,  from Deb Lacativa last spring.,  the seed.   Once upon a time i spent days upon days drawing leaves like these.  the beauty of this form.

I love how the little stone has gathered a nest around it – wind has tucked it in.

yes. there is a very loving innocence to that. Wind
does not discriminate. a stone. a hollyhock, a garden
    hose.

I love the tension between the two orbs; they are in the perfect distance from one another. Really beautiful Grace; and the rock with its debris- a new phrase I learned just yesterday: lithic mulch.
thanks you Grace, as always, for inspiration and being there to connect to.

my immediate response to seeing the first pic is how your pieces evoke the surrounding landscape cum weather, how they represent, as a map might do, your world; very nice.
I love the debris that shapes islands all about the place, in my own garden I have come to love these bits of debris softening corners and adding another layer, their shifting with the elements makes for a continual small spectacle; love the fact that you too notice these things

oh when i first slowly scrolled down i thought the zinnia was some of your curling and self determined cloth..and then it surprised me…and either would be perfect..

how things arrange themselves if we don’t feel the need
to interfere…i am looking for more of that here

Hey Grace00did you ever think of starching the cloth stiff and twisting it into shapes to let it dry before stitching it on to another cloth? Just a thought,

    well…no. because i am a coaxer, not a manipulater i
    guess. ??? i don’t know…. i guess i like the cloth
just doing what it can, in it’s own way….
that would work, but then, what would it
    say?
could the cloth still speak with starch in it’s pores?????
    i don’t know…maybe.

I see the hollyhock being held by heart-shaped debris. I too thought the first photo of the zinnia was cloth. I like imagining the paths you make through your land, mapping your days. Love the Deb cloth, of course. Lastly, the cloth of the two orbs is wonderful. Really like this one.

in the summer, i walk barefoot on those paths. once, i counted
the footsteps to Everywhere…so i would know in the dark. i want
to do that again, this summer.
    that 2 orb cloth has
    changed
    i had no idea……
