i need to get more specific,  but this much so far from an Email from Maria:

"the rag on the right side of the seat, a piece of linen trousers with purple dahlia

the square in the middle with blackberries

the right yellow with meadow sweet and fern,  pounded…neither Maria or me remember the correct word in the moment

the red one,  a big lot of gladiolas, bundled, steamed and put in glass jar covered,  sit in Sun for a few days.

as i said.  i have specific Wonderings.  Soon.

double running back stitched a lot.   and some thread beads.  and invisible basted down the Imaginal Things with a single invisible baste….just to SEE.  I felt Extremely Good doing these things.

some change.  Last night was COLD.  This morning there was a sheer glaze of ice on the Goat water,  but  still,  we Go.   I ASKED this plant if i could

Touch it…i will say IT because i don't know any better,  it, i asked and the plant said yes.  i did.  I put my fingers on the "stem".

the angle of the Sun is rapidly changing and late day it illuminated Patricia's First Iris that is on the wall just to the right of me as i peck away on this keyboard.  This pic does not do it justice…the edges were luminous

behind that Oval Frame is this.   It's an electrical outlet.  A Few times  different people have looked at it and been mystified by it…the outlet cover has been long gone.  And maybe 2 years ago i covered it with this duct tape because of mice.  Well,  this is the Year of the Mouse again.   Sometimes they get caught in my Tin Cat mouse trap,   and driven a ways down the road and set free,  but almost everynight,  another one(s) are busy here and since cat Tazmeena has retired,  i am not sure what to do.  But last night i had left a pork chop bone on the counter.   During the night maybe around 2 A.M.  there were very LOUD sounds and i lie there in bed thinking something much Bigger than a mouse must have found its way in.   It continued.  So i got up and crept and listened and YES it was from behind that Oval Frame and i flicked on the light and there….the pork chop bone.  Having been dragged really far for a mouse.  Far and it was half way pulled under the bottom part of the duct tape…

Sigh.

There was and is something so magical about seeing all of Maria’s cloths, in “full bloom”, again on your couch…
Equally, there is something special and magical in knowing a little about what made the glorious colors and markings on some of these cloths. Magic and information, both are an important and wonderful way in total, to understanding creativity that comes from vision and heart. No matter what our cloth interests or skill levels, the sheer joy of making and sharing is a wonderful way to connect across many miles.
Lastly, the colors in your cloth, in Patricia’s Iris cloth, the colors in your mouse hole collage, all are spirit lifters for me today…

Hi Grace! I battled rats in my home for a few years before I learned about moth balls. Animals hate them. I had my rats in my walls, so took to pounding holes in both walls and ceilings with a hammer, dumping in some moth balls, then plastering over the holes. Inelegant, but effective. The smell was not good, and is bad for one’s health. But it drove away the rats without hurting them. The smells lasts a week or so, but the effect lasts for 6 months or more.

Novel and workable–I did the kill trap when I got desperate and stuffed holes with brillo and plaster. Worked. Recently thought I had a mouse…and maybe I did but stuffed the hole and so far so good. hate having to kill but can’t live with them in food or clothes poor things. My Karma is stained.

Hey Grace……cloth is just getting finer and finer, and the array of materials..well you have all winter to play with them. That sunflower is astounding. HOPE hope hope there’s some sun and warm to take ‘it’ to bloom.

OOOHHHHHHH! That is a big (MOUSE). Trap it. You don’t want to let it die in the wall. (smell). One or two mothballs in the hole should be enough but it is doing the mouse rat thing like the sun flower is doing the same. Just take it to a new location. Where there is on there is two! Such excitement in Windthread Town.

had some scene like that behind the fridge for years. finally replaced the wall . i hear them in the rafters when it gets really cold. but none inside. and now there is soul-o. He is a hunter.
there is a nice balance of push and pull in this cloth. a kind of suspended tension. alignment and then a sense of not.

I love the thread knots … and the sunflower made me think of the flower in The Little Prince … I hope s/he makes it
But critters … well, it’s nice to share, but there are limits. I’m wondering what Tay thinks of your new “guest”

well, the mouse just pulled it up…so it can come and go….
but not enough for the bone. Yet. Have set the live trap with
a bone tonight in addition to the usual peanut butter. Maybe i
    will have luck.
today SunFlower’s head was bowed. But otherwise seemed ok. I HOPE.

Love the Visual of you pounding holes in your walls and ceilings
with a hammer….they make you crazy, don’t they?
these are such sweet small mice but i know from past experience
can chew up electrical wires in the walls.
I will be dillgent with the Live Trap for a while longer and then
might consider the moth balls. I know they work for Bees too, if
they are wanting to build a hive under your house.

…a stain is a stain. yes. bummer. This recent affliction seems
content with the pantry stuff. I wish i could set out a bowl of
stuff for them and they would be happy. But they seem to love
the challenge of chewing through packaging.

was out back taking clothes off the line and heard a tiny mewing..
over by the fence, INSIDE!? the fence a very very small kitten.
I’d seen a cat yesterday sitting on the fence post, and wondered
if she/he was living in the Albatros. Would be a great place for
a feral cat to live. Then forgot. But i carried the little one
out and let it cry a couple times and there from across the road
came that cat so i carried the baby over and set her down, walked
away and then looked and cat had picked baby up by neck was was
going off. There was a MOMENT when i thought….need a new mouser….but for once my better judgement clicked in.
i like that you say that about the Cloth suspended tension. i like that a lot…thank you

yes. Jude’s thread beads. Yes. BIG CLEAR limits with mice.
Tay kind of ignores. She is very peaceful in the night and it’s
around 2:30 am that the mouse shows up. Don’t know where it’s
    actually living.
