if you look to the right on this page  there is now a UTube with Rising Appalachia….it's the UTube that Jan sent in a comment yesterday.  I know this "song" with Sam's words for a while now.  And to listen to the Sound of the "music" only with the images of  Simone Lipscomb….a whole added

i don't know yet much about this Cloth.   But when i lived through the last some days and then listened to this UTube i was/am so quiet deep IN to the sense of Mercy.

What IS Mercy?

Mercy.

the most loved Goat born here's name is Mercy because i had not planned to love her at all.  She was one of the last of the many born that first spring and i had little to give at that point.  Was worn out of love.

she was a doeling of Onday and the story is so long and i am tired but she was caught by a hind leg in a piece of plastic rope, hanging by that leg and long story short,  i bit through that rope to free her, still expecting her not to live but she did and she is Out There now,  named Mercy   the name she knows and comes to.

so i am going to think about this word Mercy.  This construct.   Mercy.  it's about a Lot that goes on in the day to day.  It's a LOT about the skies recently,  the crashed fence,  the fierceness on my own part to FIX things to keep us safe,  maybe really,  to keep my Heart safe,    And i am thinking so much more.  Will stay with it for awhile,  what Mercy might be.

and maybe,  if you listen to the Utube,  maybe you might have thoughts too

Catching up…glad you are ok. Mercy, that’s a word I need to think about more too. Safety…well life has recently provided me with another example that you never know. As Mo said, “the flighty nature of chance.”

Mercy-justice. There needs to be a balance. Kwan Yin, Goddess of Mercy, Bodhisattva of compassion. Have mercy on us, and help us to be merciful to each other. It seems like something that can be grown through empathy. Mercy is rain after a long drought.
I like the colors in your cloths lately. Rich and lovely.
Vitex? It looks like lupine but much taller. And what lovely caterpillers. Your yard is amazing.

it was interesting…in one of the fast but intense conversations we have, Alz B’s son Bill and I, i was talking about Metta and
Said the meditation, beginning with May I be safe
and he laughed and was surprised, really.
“Safe?” he repeated????and i said yes, Safe and he thought that
was i guess odd. For him, safe has always been just a given.

mercy, rain after a long drought.
    mercy, no rain. drought.
Vitex…it’s a bush really, tho can be pruned to be a modest Tree.
This one was originally pruned to be a tree but then came that
DEEEEEEP freeze and it died off. DID come back to be this form now, bush…i won’t ever again insist on things becoming TREES but allow their bushness that can withstand more.
the parts of the “yard” that i photograph are not the whole. Now, heat is setting in and there is dry stubble.

I’m a Piscean so I can’t function on this plane without believing in something and after a lot of living those are things I still believe in

Because I was a theater person for decades, I think immediately of that famous speech of Portia’s in “the Merchant of Venice”…..http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/merchant-venice-act-iv-scene-i-quality-mercy-not-strained
But oh how I LOVE the “Mercy” story….how there was no love left, and yet, and yet there was mercy.
Being human, I’ve received more mercy than justice in my time, and thank goodness for that!

    Love
Love is a Power that can be Witnessed and Known…for me…
    Love engenders Empathy
the flighty nature of chance….it flutters
but my now very personal sense of Mercy…..am loving
looking at this…is making each moment so even more precious

she is wise beyond her years, i’m a late developer…..i did not use to think most of what i experience is down to luck, my ‘hand’ in it all is infinitesimally small, and then there is the mercy, of people, circumstance, surrounding me and then the me-having-to-be-grateful, a humbling experience; one i need to practice on a daily basis!
being grateful. phew, took me a long time; it so matters

mercy as a concept is one thing, but mercy as an act of salvation is something else — chewing through a rope to save another being. somehow THAt grabs me in a way the more abstract musings don’t. And that you did this for a being you hadn’t the energy to love and didn’t expect to survive is so, so moving.

mercy is all of it. A concept, a chewing through.
Abstract because it’s easier to ingest. Nothing is abstract, really.
there was nothing else to do. Some how, to free her. Before
thinking, i held her up and to let go meant to pull more on the leg that she was suspended by
i remember this moment so vividly…thinking….I can’t. But then
    thinking, I HAVE to
and i held her and used my teeth.
Today, i scruffed around her ears while she was standing by the dead Russian Olive. Mercy. Mercy with the Cradle Moon on her forehead

I wonder if all Mercy is ‘before thinking’. or maybe after. but not during.
