it's already the middle of September.

might be perfect.  we'll see.  It's 90 degrees (out and in)   only the fan on and i bake a pie.

Jan is talking on and off about training her new pup, Fix.  She has a blog.  And as she is,  like i was saying, uh,  well,  focused,    she blogs very specific things.  Like about the livestock.  about her dogs.  They are English Shepards.  Farm dogs.  She flew to Boston to get Fix.  From a very specific breeder.

anyway,  she's beginning his training.  She's beginning his training with the Place Command.  "Teaching a dog to travel to a specific spot and then remain in that spot until released.  It is easier for most people to teach than a solid stay, because the dog isn't required to remain in either a sit or down.  This exercise consists of training 2 separate exercises then combining to a single.  The first teaches the dog to remain in a designated spot until released.  The second teaching the dog to travel to that designated spot."  She uses a bath mat for this training.  I'm going to get a bath mat at the Dollar Store on Monday.  Tay is 3 now,  oh, eee,  maybe she's 4?  i'll have to look, but i don't think we've been together 3 years?…or have we, well anyway,  maybe she's too old for this.  Fix is not even 6 months.  And maybe we have too much of a Live and Let Live relationship.  But it will be fun to try.  Whether or not she buys it,  she'll find it interesting that i'm saying stuff to her and dragging a bath mat around.  IF she is into it,  it will be the first step in her becoming a herding dog…which she can be on the Hill.  so who knows?????

there are thread bead  (Jude Hill)  stars around the Moon.  There is the first of something coming from under Her Flow,  maybe a strand of Grass,  Maybe a kind of Vertical Root?  I don't know.

The 5×5 is a good method for dog training…..5 minutes, 5x a day, otherwise they get bored, but the 5 times helps the idea sink in. I used this with Mirrhi and still do to teach her new things, she’s 6 now.
    Pie and goats milk….yum.

My Riley was trained with a beach towel. It’s “his place” and his safe spot. I wasn’t training him to herd but our dog breeder said the dog would be happier having a safe spot. He goes there still when he feels stress and to sleep.
Once, when he was still very young, Riley piled all his toys in the safe spot. Then went and got his food bowl. Sat there awhile on top of it all and then went to get his water bowl–still with water in it. Carried it over to the safe spot–sloshing water all over the floor–and put it up on top and then climbed on over it all. I could have stopped him with the water–but I was laughing too hard.
And now–I have to bake a pie!!!!

why does synchronicity thrill me the way it does? it just does. JUST tonight, I placed a bath mat near where I prep dinner and began training Finn to sit on it. I mainly did this because he likes to lounge in front of a pull out cabinet or right at the sink (both in my way) and I’d like him to have a PLACE that doesn’t trip me up (literally). I learned about the moving-mat training in puppy obedience school but kind of forgot about it. Also saw a show two days ago about how dogs are healthy when they work a bit for their food. I fling Finn stuff from the cutting board all the time. He just has to snap it out of the air. This will put a little structure to that as well.

Tay is a good and heartfelt Partner. Somehow this is important
to her, the partner part. There’s a lot of things she has her
own opinion about, but she WANTS to be a partner more than
the opinions, so it is a great adventure

i know that piling of things…my old Red Dog Chongo, half something, half coyote, he had his pile of treasured stuff.
Tay has her places. Different for different weather, different
energies, different times of day. She’s not much for a rug
or whatever…she is ok with just the floor. so…hard to
think of how to give her Place. She liked her crate a lot.
Now it’s the bathroom when there is real stress. Crate was
too big and will be too big in the new place. She figures
    it out.
I love the story of Riley. Maybe i’ll get her a beach towel too. The New place will be very New.

why does it thrill you? because it’s THRILLING!…synchronicity…always that zzzzzt thrill
Tay lays in front of the stove while i cook. She’s BIG and so
much in the way, but i let her…climb over her.
Thank you for telling this. How we Love.
