as with the other spaces,  they have cleared quite a bit of what was there.  What remains,  WiLL remain…no longer browsable interest for this season.  No way to know what will return over the winter months of moisture.  But what is so  just heartfelt for me is watching them

RUN

To the left in the pic is an unexplained open meadow..don't understand these things yet.  and beyond,  to the back,  looks close, but is not…it's the far land across the big road and then beyond that the valley and the rim,  way out there is wilderness, very FAR AWAY.

you might remember that originally,  when we had to move the bucks from their original Formal yards because of the neighbor,  SunnyRay and Jack got the woods just to the west  campsite B,  between C and the road.  It was very wooded.  But then somehow,  SunnyRay had that Great Escape.  So they lost their opportunity for that forest world,  but really…this suits them.  Jack is very buck for a wether and likes to push and challenge SunnyRay who is young enough to still enjoy,  and he is not fast enough to cause damage.  So….they RUN,  spin and twirl,  then rest under that very big pine.   SunnyRay is looking more like his sire Gideon.  I'll put a pic soon.  I called out to Gideon this evening….Come.  See this.  All is Well.

I seem to recall poison oak being a part of the land … did the goats eat that?

It’s amazing how well they can “clean up” an area!!! You could”rent” them out to other land owners……

I can’t quite tell what Sunny Ray is standing on. I’ve seen goats in trees but goats on each others back….. Don’t you wish we could just spin and twirl and do leaps and bounds? And eat poison ivy/oak without swelling. Ahhh, goat envy.
There is an interesting plant on bottom left of the photo. Looks like flattened mini- marshmallows. And then big poofs like seedheads. Have you identified these yet?
What a wonder FULL world you have created with family.

poison oak is like grass here. Everywhere in the forested places…only NOt in the meadow Sun. But everywhere.
We walk paths to and from everywhere. These are clipped with long garden clippers…loppers. about 2 ft wide. All around is the poison oak and grows in vines, way UP into the trees. From now on, into fall, it is the green upon this Earth.
the Goats do eat it. Without hesitation. The only question that remains is if it matters with milking does. That answer i don;t have yet. If so…we can sequester them.

yes. we all did. We remain the Herd. Only Snowbunny
and Gideon not here in physical presence, but in other
ways, they ARE, very much present.

there are many goats around. Renting out isn’t such a
business here. And these are the smaller dairy Goats…not the Nubian or Boer, Saanen.
it’s an enormous amount of work to trailer goats, make temporary moving boundries, watch over them in the night.

funny…i looked at the pic and it does look like SR is
standing ON Jack…but no…he is maybe 10 ft behind him…
it’s the slope of the hill. Optical illusion.
those plants…i’ll have words for them tomorrow

i smile…mapping…such a great and pleasurable thought, but i’m not sure how i can depict the HILL, the slant,
which is sometimes, someplaces, severe. But i want to try. So…we’ll see

When we first moved to Texas I got a job at Texas State in the Library … worked in the Government Documents department where we had topographic maps. I was so fascinated by the drive to work through the hills that I made multiple copies in different colors of the road leading into the valley and painstakingly cut out each layer along different lines of elevation, then stacked the paper layers and glued them together.
So, layers of cloth perhaps? Each a different color? Now that would take some serious layer management!

I’d love a map, too. It was a surprise, for instance, to learn that you are minutes away from a hospital — I imagined you worlds away from buildings and houses.

I had forgotten one of the goats was Jack Flash. That’s the name I gave my car – Jack Flash, Charlie and I go on the prowl.
