it DOES go, like a river, it does go

.

this is Marti's cloth and just from the screen on my laptop…not a good image of it's Beauty,  the depth of color.  But i wanted it here,  as Witness to what we are doing.  Doing with Cloth

How Beauty FULL.  the taking apart,  the setting aside,  the piecing.  Together,  the work,  to find a Way.

Marti…i carried all your words with me when i went down to give water.  After that,  i went further down to the creek that flows here,  a small sister to the Rio Grande,  i sat and then slid down the bank,  INTO.  I stood there,  with your words and Heart.  Water flowed.  Past.  Cool,  softly moving.  The Rio Grande has seen so much.  Is so constricted from it's original meandering form….no more flood plains…constricted,  but yet it feeds the Bosque.  It's not the river.  It's us.  We are death.  River flows.  I am so beyond glad that you went…it is what i had hoped you might be able to do…to go to her.

you might have noticed in the past pics,  the two dark marks just near the lavender piece.  If not,  you can go back and look.  Today i accepted them as part of what this Cloth is asking.  Two figures. A woman.  A child.

    It would be so obvious to say here that the marks on this cloth, represent Alyssia and Emrie but to me, they do. They are in a place of love, overseen by a watchful eye, surrounded by love, not bordered or framed but hugged by the cloth pieces and will have a safe journey both in the going and in the coming home…fanciful thinking well maybe but I trust in what I sense from this cloth. It is powerful given that I sense it from a screen, an mot holding it in my hand.
    What I have found when working with cloth, is the ability most often, to empty my mind of chatter and sit quietly, breathing in and out. After a time, words often in the form of questions come and so begins a way of answering them, questions of importance that during our daily lives, sometimes only sit on the fringes of our thoughts. For me, cloth has a way of centering me, of letting me work through what nudges like a needle. As someone who ten years ago, would have absolutely scoffed at the notion of my doing anything with cloth, this process of how cloth often lets me work through the hard stuff and tell me what’s needed, is an incredible gift.
    Story has always been important in my life and to know that there are many ways to share and tell, is a joy. What is amazing to me is how cloth tells the story and often brings up out of the depths of the unknown, solace and direction; maybe because it is such a tactile way of communicating and connecting. The woman and child in your cloth grace have come for a reason because your heart asked a question and cloth answered…

    Cloth is an expression of who we are .. where we have been. It gives me great comfort and what Marti said about bringing peace deep within when it call seems overwhelming. Love you all so very much!
