brought up a basket from the Stuff at Campsite B.  It's been a long time,  even for still being in New Mexico standards,  because here,  the 9 patch i DID MAKE.   I did make a nine patch and as i hold it today,  test it for strength of stitch,  it's a fine nine patch,  selvages  neatly invisibly basted down.  Yup.   And i love how Jude loves them.  Find deep satisfaction from watching and listening,  from reading how others find great pleasure in them.  Love.  But for me…,  just no.  Just not.  Don't know why,  but

and then,  woven ripped strips…these,  yes.  Can feel the ripping,  the Pleasure of the weave,  remembering how i knew,  doing this,  that i could MAKE anything i might need from strips of ripped cloth.  I could weave a home.  I could weave something of strength and Use,  even if the cloths were not aesthetically  "right",  i COULD meet the NEED.  Was Good to find these today.

    I have never done a 9 patch but want to as this is Jude’s last class, your weaving looks fabulous ! If things get too strange I will just go bush and weave a house with mud and sticks

    Very nice finds. I’ve never sewn down a nine patch, though I’ve ripped many squares of the same size (various sizes) and gotten acquainted (again) with the fact that I’m far better at starting projects than finishing them.

    ripping … stitching … making cloth whole … it’s all of a piece …
    and Jude’s way makes it so very easy to pick and choose one’s own way …

    I love loose making and more organized making–ie patches. I have been making a long string of tiny patches. Might be something but more than likely–nothing. I also love the way Jude makes patches.-this last class of hers is just amazing.

    When I see how essential the nine patch is to Jude, I admire how she has discovered that and how beautifully she makes it work for herself as a base, a concept, as a “safety net” as she says. And I notice, like you, that it doesn’t hold the same magic for me. I absolutely love the weaving though. I get obsessive about it at times. I save every small strip made doing other work for future efforts. I have piles of woven rectangles waiting for me to do something with. What you say about how it strengthens you and makes you feel as though you could build a house made me smile. Such a good expression of how any real congruent process lights us up, enlarges us, creates a sense of expansive possibility.
