planting SunFlowers is an act of love,  watching them grow taller and taller fills us with love,  the BLOOM of the FACE of the SunFlower loves us back,  love love love,  repeat,  ad infinitum.

i love too this photograph,  hastily taken,  but forever will represent  the moment when i found this cloth in one of the baskets retrieved from the storage unit and sitting at Campsite B till brought up Here,  to campsite C  where i now live.  The basket sits on the bench until i take the time to empty it out and be sure no spider has nested there.  This too.  And it's on the Janet Chair.

one photograph,  holding SO MUCH,  holding the Whole of what Jude has given over years of time,  holding where i Was,  Where i recently was, and   Where i am now.

My life to me is represented in my mind as snap shots.  I don't think or remember in words,  but rather images.  A single image can represent years,  a relationship with things or someone,  revelation.

I recently found self googling Annie Leibovitz,  …."portrait photographer often engages subjects in intimate settings and poses."  and i thought of that as i looked at this pic…it's a Portrait.  of cloth,  not a person,  but equal,  cloth being so alive to me

and i thought as much as i love Making with cloth,  love how they teach,  I love so much Photographing cloth.  The phrase…"when things settle"  seems to come up a lot lately.  So i thought today,  When Things Settle,  i want to make paper images of a lot of the pics i take as i Make.   Maybe like greeting card size and on good paper,  greeting card weight.  So i can hold the images in my hand.  Keep them in a pile.  a shoe box.  Pick them up sometimes and feel all the moments again.    I hope i will do this.  Looking on this screen,  the screen of the phone is good,  and adequate.  But to hold something in my hands  at dawn or dimming light…i think i want this.

One of my favourite papers for printing cards these days is Moab Somerset Museum Rag 300 gsm, it’s a matte paper with a bit of tooth that holds the colours beautifully.

i will write this down. I don’t know if my photographs merit FINE paper, but it will be interesting to see,
    to learn

Red River are an American company who are very good with great customer support, I have used their matte double sided paper for printing limited edition books.

Such excellent thoughts. Yes I too hope you do make card sized images of all these loving life moments. I use packs of 20 Strathmore acid free flourescent white with deckle (raggy end) blank cards – comes with envelopes too. Get them at a local DaVinci Art store and bet they could be ordered. Of course, buying and cutting your own would be ideal.

Yes I love the idea of making cards of the cloth especially of the ones that have gone to live with others you could have them in a special box like my journal books that t read during the media fast reading only my own words

This post reminded me of one you wrote several years ago about making a pouch to hold bits of joy …
    https://windthread.typepad.com/windthread/2015/09/gifts.html
In hindsight, I think it inspired my Remember 2016 cloth, with its patches of memory for each day of the year. Jude’s Patchwork in Perspective has me wondering if another such cloth is waiting to be made.
And really, whether the memory-holders are made of cloth or paper, the end is the same … holding good-ness in one’s hands

A fine idea to make cards out of cloth but I’ve never done it. What I have done is to make a little pouch to hold assorted dye scraps to take with me to fiber arts festivals in order to share with other dyers. BUT I gave the pouch to my grand kids last year. Rummaging around the other day, as I deconstructed a cloth and remade it, I looked at my scraps and decided this weekend, I would make a kind of little cloth book to tuck into my purse and have with me at all times. I’ve seen other dyers do this but I’m not all that skilled at stitching bindings, etc. so my book is very basic but has that spark of joy.
I chose 10 pieces of cloth, not the solid colored ones but ones with assorted markings from various dye materials, rusty bits, etc. (I call these my personal petroglyph cloths.) Tore the cloths into roughly 9″ length, 4″ width strips, placed one on top of another, folded them over, ironed them to set a crease. Now don’t laugh but I used my large turkey trussing needle and threaded it with 6 strands of black floss so that I could make a very long stitch in the center that would come around to the front sided fold. It held and I tied it off with a few little pieces of floss. Made me so happy to have created a book of Marti’s magic markings.
Next step was to take photos of each turn of the cloth because I document all of my work, from every stage since I started dyeing and stitching cloth in 2010. Well Drat! my camera flashed its “change batteries” sign so I have to go and get some batteries this weekend.

Your woven cloth is such a good example of the ability of cloth to express clearly the reality of life…the straight gaze at What Is, and the inter-connectedness of it all. It would make a great card.
