how many years has it been?   I did the math.   The first  Garden was one tomato plant and a maybe 3×6 strip of zinnias.  I was 21.  Out the back door of the apartment.  Since then,  almost every year.  and at the end,  or here,  what might seem to be the end of the Growing Season….those words.  Always dreaming the next time.   What i learned.  What to do better.

who would have guessed that the Indigo is finally blooming???????   It was planted indoors in peat pots in February.  NEXT TIME i have to figure out a different way….maybe by then there will be a different window which would mean more (enough) light.  Or,  who knows,  maybe electricity?????  …..how novel…..and a Grow Light.    OR maybe Next Time there will be a small GreenHouse?   But for sure,  Next Time i'll do better.   And i will Believe in the Plant.  The Indigo transplants had such a hard time taking hold.  So spindly.  So many times looking like they wouldn't make it.  They are not lush.  Many of the leaves are tipped with dry and brown,  the leaves there are,  but still.  Some leaves are strong and deep green and Lo and Behold,  there are Blossoms.   FLOWERS.  There are FLOWERS!   7 or 8 months after they germinated,  there are FLOWERS.    So i know now.  Believe in the Plant.  If there is any green at all,  Believe.    Talk even,   Ask.  Know.  Tell.  and most,  Love.  Give Love.

Acey is beginning again….blog.   WE  have the opportunity to begin with her.   This is such a Gift.  I am amazed at the synchronicity.  I am deeply Grateful.   I am very HAPPY!   I am a Joyous Warrior! of Gaia,  one of so many of all Her Sentient Beings and i am SO,   SO   READY to LEARN.

i HOPE you Be There,  with me.   We Need This.  This needs Us.

Thank you,  Acey

    i felt like i’d
    failed
    them
and let that be a feeling that i brought there, when i came.
And sitting now with the blooms, i actually cried a tear.
Me, the Cry No Cry person. Just one, but nonetheless….
They have nothing. NOTHING to say about
    failure
They only have their green green leaves. Their stems.
    and now Blossoms.
There is NOTHING from them about failure. There is
so much from them about Just Going.
About the joyousness of the Bloom, no matter how few.
    Love, Love to you

I have been growing indigo for about 5 years now. Everything has been a transplant so far. Some have been lush and beautiful, some spindly. I’ve left a patch each year until it flowers but never have timed it right to catch the seed. It’s always very late to bloom here, just before frost. It’s never reseeded on it’s own. Haven’t seen any flowers yet on the patch I am leaving this year.
One thing I am sure of is that they like a lot of water. And it roots very easily in water. I don’t think they like full sun, the patch that always does the best for me is morning sun, afternoon shade. Mom usually starts it in her green house for me. This year I started some on the porch, late spring. It’s not as beautiful as some of what Mom started, but it is the same as the ones that aren’t doing as well. Next year I am going to try direct seeding some in a large pot, no transplanting. I’ll grow it in the place I think it does the best, just to see.
So excited to see Acey blogging again.

rickettsindigo.com/starting-seeds/ is a good video that shows how they grow their japanese indigo plants. Persicaria tinctoria. It looks like that is the kind you are growing, not indigofera tinctoria. The blue looks like it is trying to drip from the leaves of your indigo. Beautiful!

i did. I get a packet every year from a woman in
Washington state. I could never get it past transplant
in New Mex. This time, in comparison, was a huge
success but i need to do more FOR the plants.
i am a million things…very happy being one
