from the porch in New Mex

20191129_125518

more from that porch,   under the Old Apricot,  a couple from the fence of the migrational corridor .  The orbs are copper floats from livestock water  troughs….the sediment of that water.  Need to clean,  let their copper come through.

Scrub Oak that is center there…on a small mound  of earth  left as is  when they were leveling the space  of  B.   Some small distance just up from the garden there.   Had been undecided all this time but this is where i'll build a small cairn.  Emrie will help carry the rocks.

The line of that rim,  that horizon is far away.  The land goes down from here into a wide valley and up and up to that rim.

It's to the South.

    it’s raining again, now…in this moment….just before
there were sounds on the window…tapping, well kind of, but harder.
    I went out
    with the flash light
    some kind of moth beings
    but then….
it began to RAIN. We all sought shelter.
Now, just the sound of RAIN.
Out There, not just the sound, but the Experience
of Rain…falling, soaking in. Soaking in.

Love the sound of rain .. but never appreciated it or even really gave it value. Growing up it just always was .. we would play in the rain and after that make mud pies. It is nothing but scary and very very sad how much all that has changed. Happy day Grace .. and no this is not just a blog.

Windthread comes and lifts a flap, swings a door that has been left open for many, many years to one and all and we come in. We come from far and wide, around the world, sitting on the stoop, on the ground, on a chair, on the bench near the table. In the past, we walked the New Mexico land. Now we are coming to know a Hill in California through your seeking, sharing and sensing of how it is, each day. Overtime, we come to know how it is, a day in your life. We come to see how it doesn’t matter all that much where we live because we connect. Windthread has always been a place, for me, that uplifts, educates, a loving, open neighborhood…and when we come to “borrow that cup of neighborly sugar” we are given so much more…
And last night, soft rain hitting the window, gentle rain, melting the last of the snow for now. It is so quiet when it hits the window that it lulls to sleep and sometimes, it is good that it does so. Equally in moments of upset, I love the fierce slashing of rain against the window, punctuated by roaring thunder and jagged lightning- a release and that too, over all, soothes.

The rain here turned into a few inches of snow, now almost gone. Water in the high desert after a summer of “non-soon”…the plant allies need it badly. And then there’s that wonderful smell of sagebrush and pine that awakens the senses.
