from when i was 21, the first place i lived with earth, Garden. A tomato plant and zinnias. There after, everyplace. Garden, my longest lover except Earth herself, and Earth gave me Garden.

sunflowers and tomatoes thrived in our first garden and we thought ourselves to be excellent growers, only later learning that our house had been built over what had once been a barnyard … we became firm believers in manure amendments for ever after
