it's BEGUN!!!!!    What would the experience of this be….for a Plant Being?   Only in the second year.   Having been devoted to Growing.   and now….the crowning glory….i am so excited

and now,  Next has arrived.   I love her butt hairs.   I milked her in N Mex.   she wasn't into it at all,  back then.   But she's a very different Mother this time.  The little ones are going on half her size and still nurse.   i see it happen 3 or 4 times a day.  Her udder is healthy.  teats even.    no wear and tear.   The milk stand has been moved into the Curry House for over a week now.  They will need to be separated.   eee.    The easiest way is to separate them at night.  Probably i'll put her in the Curry House and leave them out.  My guess is that they will lay next to her along the fence of the corridor.  For a few nights there will be crying.  But not for long.   Will milk her first thing in the morning then let her out.   Put her back last thing in eve.  It'll work.  She can wean them as she chooses and i can,  hopefully,  continue to milk.  if it goes well,  it will be about a year.  Cheese.  Slow,  Slow,  we work toward feeding ourselves.  Eggs,  milk/cheese,  vegetables.   Food enough for Life.    The deer have not come to eat the Pear Tree ,  the Plumcot Tree…so far.   They've grown and give fruit.  Just a little so far.    The grape vines which we have not cared for as we should,  have grapes.   The rooster swamp is FULL with blackberries again.   The mullien is medicine as is the Yarrow and Plantain that grows.  Figs.  and maybe pomegranates if the squirrel allows.  We go along.

Lucky you with available goat’s milk. Buying it in stores is so expensive although they now have goat’s milk yogurt at Trader Joe’s.
    Self-sufficiency is a good thing!

My one mullein plant is getting her tall flowering stalk also- under and next to the Queen of Plums Tree. One year- the first- leaves only- second year the flower stalk. At least that is what I have read. In the garden a very very robust and tall herbal plant. Name – I know is in the beginning of alphabet- as I recall, no the name, from ten plus years of greenhouse work, but the place on the herb table where it sat. I have been trying to bring it forward in my mind. A.

Angelica,Archangelica. Long history with Native Americans as food and medicine.
Also so was thought to be a remedy for the Black Plaque in the 14th Century which affected the lungs.

Flower heads so there should be seeds if you are interested. 2 to 3 years to produce plants from seed. I have had it here in years past. But yes, I am thinking of harvest.

just looked up channel material (will post about it soon i hope) that says many relevant things. It talks about how useful the mullein flower essence is for animals “where long training periods are required.” thought immediately of the mastiff and what would be mandatory indoctrination process.

do you have woodpeckers of some kind there? Here they love mining the stalk of the withered flowers and dispersed seeds for tiny insects.

i would go un-vegan for goat’s milk yogurt if that’s what i needed. have in the past when sickened body’s protein needs required that level of shift.

these Goats….such incredible milk. People are put off
of Goat milk…don’t know their experience…but it comes
in my understanding from close, too close proximity to bucks.
when i milked them in N Mex, it was pure and very fine and deliciously rich…so much CREAM at the top of the jar.
Butter, easy. IceCream too. tho i did neither. It’s the cheese that draws me. I did make some incredible cheese.
